British born guitarist Snowy White (Born Terence Charles White) first became interested in music at the age of eleven when he was inspired by blues musicians Buddy Guy and B. B. King. He pursued his blues style in a number of bands however during the seventies Snowy made a reputation for himself playing numerous sessions for a wide variety of musicians such as Al Stewart, Cliff Richard and Peter Green. More famously Snowy toured as second guitarist with Pink Floyd augmenting the bands sound on the tours to promote the Animals and The Wall albums. By late 1979 however tiring of the session scene Snowy accepted the offer to join the rock band Thin Lizzy. Snowy recorded two albums with Thin Lizzy (Chinatown and Renegade) and completed a number of successful tours before deciding that the bands music and more importantly their lifestyle wasn't to his taste. 'No Faith Required' is available as an LP for the first time ever, and is now released as a high-quality 180 Gr. Vinyl version (clear vinyl) including slightly modified artwork with integrated spot varnish. The album was originally released in 1996 and was the first album to be recorded with The White Flames. The album is a set of Snowy White originals which finds the guitarist in fine voice over his distinctive guitar style. In 1996, `Snowy White and The White Flames' band recorded their first album together as a trio, it was called `NO FAITH REQUIRED'. The band toured throughout Europe, with their fan-base gradually increasing.

Snowy White, self taught guitarist, has been around for a while and has played with the likes of Thin Lizzy, Peter Green, Pink Floyd, and Jim Capaldi to name a few. A great sessions guitarist whose White Flames, Blues Agency, and blues Project offerings/compilations are legendary. One of Britain's best, and most talented blues guitarists. With the edgy, clean bluesy sound that only he can master from his well loved vintage Gibson Les Paul Goldtop.

"Snowy White is one of a handful of classic blues-orientated British electric guitar players - musicians whose sound, technique and style has echoed the originality of the blues with the excitement of contemporary rock."

Always a tight band of great musicians in accompaniment, great percussion with a semblance to the Santana style. Full sounds, intricate fretwork and not a wasted note among the lot.

Snowy's work with Pink Floyd is legendary, I read...

"In June 1990 Roger Waters, having split from the Pink Floyd, asked Snowy to perform with him on the spectacular `The Wall' show, in front of 350,000 people in Berlin. This was televised live across the world and the resulting video was one of the biggest sellers in the USA that year. The live album was also a world-wide hit, containing performances from many guest artistes, including Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, The Band and Bryan Adams. For many of the audience though, one of the most memorable moments was Snowy's guitar solo in `Comfortably Numb' played from the top of the eighty foot wall."

The man is top notch and all his recordings are choice. You can't go wrong with any Snowy White projects. One of my favorite artists of all time.

Snowy White war Teil der THIN LIZZY-Legende und an den beiden Veröffentlichungen 'Chinatown' und 'Renegade' beteiligt.

Snowy hat viele Alben nach seiner LIZZY-Zeit veröffentlicht, war mit Peter Green und PINK FLOYD über die Jahre davor und danach aktiv. Einige Alben hat er unter seinem Namen herausgebracht wie 1983 'White Flames' mit dem schönen Schmuse-Hit 'Bird Of Paradise' oder das sehr gute 'Driving On The 44' im letzten Jahr. Noch mehr war Snowy mit THE WHITE FLAMES aktiv mit Juan Van Emmerloot am Schlagzeug und Walter Latupeirissa am Bass. Dazu gab es weitere Veröffentlichungen, auch noch unter einigen anderen Namen.
'No Faith Required' war das erste Album als SNOWY WHITE AND THE WHITE FLAMES aus dem Jahr 1996. Es wird zum ersten Mal auf Vinyl veröffentlicht und ist ohne Zweifel eines der stärksten, zugänglichsten und rockigsten seiner Alben. Der Titelsong beginnt mit einer eher komplexen, fusionsangehauchten Rhythmik. Snowy lässt sich Zeit (wie so oft auf seinen Alben), singt ziemlich viel für seine Verhältnisse mit seiner etwas sonoren, aber sehr angenehmem Stimme, oft im halben Sprechgesangmodus. Auch 'A Miracle I Need' hat ähnlich wie der Titelsong einen textlich philosophischen Ansatz und auch hier nimmt sich Snowy viel Zeit für gitarristische Höchstleistungen.

Bei 'In The Name Of The Lord' gibt es Religionskritisches über die blutige Spur, die die spanischen Eroberer bei ihrer Christianisierung in Südamerika hinterließen. Mit 'Cortez The Killer' hat die Geschichte vom blutigen Feldzug von Hernán Cortés bei den Azteken in Mexiko auch schon einmal Neil Young musikalisch und lyrisch umgesetzt.

'Midnight Blues' ist ein wunderschöner Blues-Titel, der zufällig den gleichen Titel wie Gary Moores epochales Stück hat. Wunderschön und von Peter Green inspiriert und auch einer der bekanntesten Titel von Snowy. Auch hier zeigt sich Snowy als ganz Großer, wenn auch immer mit dem britischen Understatement, das ihm innewohnt. Klasse. Ein Klassiker, den viele nicht kennen.

'Slave Labour' geht mit doppelter Melodieführung in die Jazz Rock-Ecke und hat auch leichte Ethnosprengsel und Snowy zeigt einmal mehr seine Vielseitigkeit und gibt teilweise seine Zurückhaltung auf und lässt die Gitarre brennen (ja, das kann der gute Snowy auch, glaubt mir). 'Blues Like A Fever' ist wieder eher rockiger und es wird wieder gesungen, unterbrochen von einem rhythmischen Mittelteil. 'Canyon' ist eine schöne instrumentale Ballade mit Fusionselementen. Beim Abschluss 'American Dream' schließen Snowy und seine Band stilistisch wieder an die ersten Stücke des Albums an.

Die acht Songs bringen es fast auf 55 Minuten und sind jetzt auf 180g Vinyl mit künstlerisch erweitertem Coverartwork erhältlich. Mir persönlich gefällt die erste Seite etwas besser. Insgesamt aber sehr stark und einer der (nicht wenigen) Höhepunkte des reichhaltigen musikalischen Schaffens von Snowy White.

ヘビロテで聴くようなアルバムではないのですが。本当に秀逸としか言えない良いアルバムです。ハイレゾの音響があれば是非、お勧めしたい。昔、ギタ－小僧で全く違うジャンルばかり聴いてきたのですが、世代的にもフレ－ズやギタ－や全体的な音色が懐かしくもあり、非常に聴き心地の良い一枚です。ただ、日本ではCDが手に入らないようですが、MP3音源よりCD版で購入を勧めます。郵送の時間が掛かりますが１ケ月以内に届き、価格も1000円強程度なので、より良い音源を手にした方が良いかと思います。

Es handelt sich um eine Wiederauflage (Original von 1996). White hat es auf Vinyl vermisst, erschien damals nur auf CD und befürwortete die Neuauflage.

Tolle Musik vom völlig unterbewerteten Snowy White mit seinen White Flames. Wer Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck oder auch Mark Knopfler mag, kann hier ein Ohr riskieren und wird sicher nicht enttäuscht werden. Snowy White ist für mich David Gilmour in hörbarem Blues-Rock. Nicht umsonst hatten ihn Pink Floyd und später Roger Waters auf den Tourneen dabei. Auch auf Richard Wright's Wet Dream und auf Peter Green's "In the Skies" ist er zu hören. Er spielt etwas verkennbarer als Gilmour, der "seinen" Klang hat. Snowy White spielt abwechslungsreicher und ist dem Song dienlich. "Midnight Blues", nicht mit dem gleichnamigen Stück von Gary Moore zu verwechseln, ist ein Jahrhundertstück wie "Bird of Paradise", welchem es ähnelt. Wunderschön! Auch der Rest ist empfehlenswert. Gerne unterstütze ich Musiker, die keine Millionenerträge erspielen und genauso gut sind. Bonamassa ist schneller, aber mit weniger Seele. Hier kommt die Musik zwischen den Tönen!
