Fury was winning the fight until the ninth round when Usyk knocked Fury down and came close to stopping the Brit in the moment which ultimately decided the bout.

Wladimir Klitschko: Win extremely important for Ukraine

The last Ukrainian heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, paid tribute to his countryman after his victory over Tyson Fury, the man who dethroned Dr Steelhammer in 2015.
"Imagine how much pressure there was for Oleksandr," Klitschko said, speaking to TNT Sports.
"This win was extremely important for us Ukrainians.
"Every night and everyday Russia is bombarding us. To have this win is extremely important for us Ukrainians.
"To have this win and put Ukraine on the map once again and to show we are fighters and we will fight not just in the boxing ring but in the senseless war which Russia started.
"It gives us hope the senseless war will come to an end. And it gives us strength to withhold any opponent we are facing in the boxing ring and on the battlefield."

Haye: The fight should have been stopped

Oleksandr Usyk had Tyson Fury on the brink of being stopped in the ninth round and former cruiserweight and heavyweight champion David Haye felt the referee Mark Nelson should have stopped the contest.
"I thought the fight should have got stopped in the ninth round," Haye said on TNT Sports.
"I don't know why the referee gave a count. I know they say if the ropes are keeping you up then you give a count.
"I thought the ref should have let him either finish him off or stop the fight. It seemed like a fair and square stoppage from my point of view.
"If it was the other way - if Tyson Fury was doing this to Usyk - the referee would have probably stopped it.
"But for some reason the referee gave him a count and gave him a long 20 second count.
"The referee stopped him from finishing his opportunity. Everyone at ringside was really upset at the referee."

Warren: I thought Fury won by a couple of rounds

"Usyk had a good round but I thought Fury won by a couple of rounds," Warren said.
"No ones's complaining, Tyson's said he wants the rematch so that's what will happen.
"The loser has the right to call a rematch."

Usyk happy to rematch

A rematch is scheduled for October and Oleksandr Usyk is happy to give Fury a chance at revenge.
"I am ready for a rematch," Usyk said.
"One more time we can do a good fight."

Fury: 'I believe I won'

"I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I think I won the majority of them.
"His country's at war, so people side to the side with the people at war."

Usyk wins split decision!

The scorecards were 115-112 for Usyk from Manuel Palermo, Craig Metcalfe scored the contest 114-113 for Fury and the Ukrainian was given the fight 114-113 by Mike Fitzgerald.

Fury-Usyk: Round 12

Usyk lands good left hands and Fury looks ungainly against the ropes, but the British fighter lands a couple of good roundhouse right hands and a good right hand on the back foot. Fury might have won the last, but I think Usyk takes it. A fight worthy of the occasion and the hype.

Fury-Usyk: Round 11

Fury lands his uppercut for the first time since the seventh round, but Usyk is still having the better of it. Landing with more shots upstairs including a left hand up close.

Fury-Usyk: Round 10

Usyk's round. Fury still eating straight left hands. Fury gets back into it as the round goes on, but still looks vulnerable going backwards. Usyk ahead now.

Fury-Usyk: Round 9

Fury is wobbling all over the ring. Usyk catches Fury with a number of shots and the Morecambe man was rocking around the ring before taking a count in the corner as he leaned back against the ropes.

Fury-Usyk: Round 8

Good round for Usyk. His round definitely and it looks like he has damaged Fury's nose. He has been dabbing it throughout but is definitely suffering more with it now.

Fury-Usyk: Round 7

Fury continues to control the fight with his jab and lands another good uppercut. Usyk has some success too with straight left hands and has a little momentum before the bell. But it is clearly Fury's round.

Fury-Usyk: Round 6

Big round for Fury. He landed an uppercut which hurt Usyk and then mixed it up with body shots and then another uppercut. The momentum is certainly with the Gypsy King.

Fury-Usyk: Round 5

Fury's best round by far. He lands a good short right and a couple of body shots, with Usyk complaining one was low. He also lands a number of straight shots.

Fury-Usyk: Round 4

Usyk again landing with more shots but Fury landing with his best shots of the round with a couple of right hands in close. Usyk coming on as the round went on but Fury probably took that.

Fury-Usyk: Round 3

Fury starts the round jabbing better, finding the target. Usyk closes Fury into the corners of the ring and he lands with a flurry against the ropes shortly before the bell. A close round.

Fury-Usyk: Round 2

Another Usyk round. Fury having some success near the end of the round with uppercuts to the body, but Usyk landed the more shots and takes the round for me. Richie Woodhall feels Fury won it.

Fury-Usyk: Round 1

Fury showboats to the crowd holding onto the ropes in the corner. Usyk landing more with shots to the body and with a couple of shots to the head near the end of the round. Fury throwing jabs but Usyk blocking most of them. Usyk's round.

Opetaia: I want the WBO next, then I want all the belts

"I want the winner of Riakporhe-Billam Smith, for the WBO belt next," Jai Opetaia said, after his victory over Mairis Breidis.
"Then I want all the belts."

Opetaia wins by unanimous decision!

He takes the fight 118-111 and 116-112 (twice).

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 12

Breidis lands a big right hand early on and another midway through which stiffens the legs of the Australian. A right to the body also made Opetaia draw breath. Opetaia ends the fight on the back foot but is likely to take the contest. Richie Woodhall has it to Opetaia by a round.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 11

Breidis has Opetaia in some trouble early on landing big shots with the Australian's back on the ropes. His round but he goes into the last needing a knockout.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 10

Breidis is making it more into a war and both landed big shots in the last 30 seconds. Opetaia's a straight left and Breidis with a right uppercut.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 9

Breidis fights on the front foot but is beaten to the punch by Opetaia. He needs to persevere with this attack though. It is his only hope.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 8

The fight is following a familiar pattern. Breidis needs to do something differently if he is to stand a chance here.

WHAT TIME DOES THE TYSON FURY & OLEKSANDR USYK FIGHT START TONIGHT?

The rings walks are expected to begin at 23:20 UK time.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 7

Both player had some success at short range. Opetaia gets impatient to land big shots and when he does he tends to take a shot as well as he did in this round. Breidis walking backwards throughout will count against him in close rounds though.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 6

Business picked up in this round, Opetaia landed a good left early and then a crushing shot with Breidis against the ropes, but the Latvian also landed his best punch of the fight in the same flurry. Breidis' nose seems busted as it was in the first fight.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 5

Both fighters have thrown the same amount of shots. It feels Opetaia is taking the rounds, but as always there could be different interpretations. Richie Woodhall has Opetaia 4-1 up.

Fury making final preparations...

The Gypsy King is almost ready to go.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 4

Opetaia's left hand is the danger shot for Breidis. But again he takes Opetaia's power shot well.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 3

Opetaia's corner asked him to land his left and he did so midway through the round, though Breidis took it well. There were fears the Latvian may not have been the same fighter after being out of the ring for two years but he is certainly here to win. That said, he is losing the rounds thus far.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 2

Opetaia lands a good shot with his back against the ropes early but Breidis lands a shot in response. Opetaia increasingly looks to be going for a big shot and a hard right hook certainly got Breidis' attention.

Opetaia-Breidis: Round 1

A circumspect round between southpaw and orthodox fighters, but Opetaia is controlling the centre of the ring and landing his southpaw jab.

Opetais-Breidis rematch next...

The chief undercard sees the three-time cruiserweight champion Mairis Breidis (28-2, 20 KOs) take on the hard-hitting Jai Opetaia (24-0, 19 KOs) for the vacant IBF cruiserweight title which both have held before.

Klitschko: Usyk has handled what was unmanageable

Former heavyweight champion and Oleksandr Usyk's compatriot, Wladimir Klitschko, hails the former cruiserweight world champion's character.

Lewis predicts 'chess match'

There is no one better to preview this contest than the last undisputed heavyweight boxing championship, Lennox Lewis.

Cacace plays down illegal punch impact

It could be argued a turning point was Anthony Cacace landing a punch after the referee called break in the third round. From this point onwards, Joe Cordina looked vulnerable.
Cacace did not buy this point of view though.
"The referee called break as I threw a punch, he threw one as well," Cacace said.
"It's professional boxing, eat it up."

Cacace is the new IBF super featherweight champion!

At the age of 35, he has fulfilled his dream. This would be the upset of the night so far.

Cacace stops Cordina in Round 8!

The Belfast fighter came out and hurt Cordina with a right cross rocking the Welshman to his boots and having been on the brink of stopping the fight before, Bob Williams, called an end to proceedings.

Cordina-Cacace: Round 7

Cordina spent almost all the round against the ropes, throwing the occasional left hook or right hand to stop the referee from stopping the bout when he looked poised to do so. Cordina landed a good right hand on the bell but his shots don't appear to be having too much affect.

Cordina-Cacace: Round 6

Cacace forces Cordina to the corner landing left hooks and right hands, but just as the referee might have been checking on the Welshman he landed with a left hand of his own. Cacace's stamina is lasting the better at the end of the rounds, the referee cannot have been far away from stopping the bout as the IBO champion landed repeated uppercuts before the bell.

Cordina-Cacace: Round 5

Both have some success with power shots in close, Cacace ends the round the better landing repeated right uppercuts rocking Cordina's head back.

Cordina-Cacace: Round 4

Cacace continues to hurt Cordina with a left hook and uppercut but a left hook of his own rocked the Ulsterman's head back and the rest of the round was fought on equal terms. This is looking like being the fight of the night.

Cordina-Cacace: Round 3

Cordina saved by the bell as Cacace has Cordina in a world of trouble. First of all Cordina felt a couple of Cacace's body shots. A shot on the break saw the referee give Cacace a warning. But it helped the Ulsterman who shortly after the restart wobbled Cordina with a left hook and then later a one-two put him to the canvas. After a flurry of punches on the ropes, Cordina desperately held on and barely made it to the bell.

Cordina-Cacace: Round 2

Cacace looks to target the body, hoping Cordina's struggles at the weight will come to haunt the Welshman. When the pace drops it suits Cordina and he lands with good left hooks to the body and gets through with an eye-catching left hook and right hand cross.

Cordina-Cacace: Round 1

Cacace attempted to make a quick start but much of his work was blocked by Cordina, who looks the more confident fighter. A fairly even opener.

An all-British world title fight next...

Champion Welshman Joe Cordina (17-0, 9 KOs) takes on Anthony Cacace (21-1, 7 KOs) of Northern Ireland for the IBF super featherweight world crown.

'This is History' - Warren

Frank Warren, much like Noel Gallagher at Knebworth, is not underselling this occasion for his charge Tyson Fury who he describes as the 'best of his generation'.

Kabayel is now the mandatory challenger to Fury's WBA title

He is looking to be the first German world champion in 98 years, since Max Schmelling.

Kabayel stops Sanchez in Round 7!

A sickening left hook to the body put Sanchez downs and after the Cuban got up at eight, the German forced him back again and then a jab into the belly led to another knockdown. Sanchez then took the full count.

Sanchez-Kabayel: Round 6

Kabayel systematically breaks down his opponent, taking the breath out of the Cuban with big left and rights to the body.

Sanchez-Kabayel: Round 5

Kabayel lands a shot to make Sanchez's legs stiffen and the Cuban's motivations seems to be sapping round by round. We could have a stoppage here.

Sanchez-Kabayel: Round 4

This looks like it could be go on in the same vein for the rest of the contest. The Cuban's corner are imploring him to do more.

Sanchez-Kabayel: Round 3

Sanchez's desire does not seem there. Kabayel again walking him down and landing shots to the body especially, with a combination of hooks upstairs rocking the Cuban's head back.

Sanchez-Kabayel: Round 2

A much better round from Kabayel with the Cuban stationery on the back foot against the ropes and eating overhand rights and uppercuts.

Haye rates Itauma as future world champion

The former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is sure Moses Itauma will follow in his footsteps.

Sanchez-Kabayel: Round 1

Kabayel looking to cramp Sanchez's room, with the Cuban landing jabs when he has room to do so. It is a bit scrappy with a fair bit of holding in close. Sanchez lands an uppercut later in the round and this might be a punch to bring him success later.

Someone's O has to go..

Frank Sanchez (24-0, 17 KOs) and Agit Kabayel (24-0, 16 KOs) meet in an eliminator for the WBC world heavyweight championship.

Warren: The best young heavyweight prospect for years

Frank Warren was effusive in his praise of Moses Itauma.
"I don't want a top ten record because we want to take it step by step," Warren said.
"The problem is finding someone to take his punches.
"World Junior heavyweight champion. World junior European championship. Knocked everyone out in the first round.
"He is the best young heavyweight prospect for years."

Itauma: 'I looked good!'

"It's my first title fight, first of many," Itauma said. "I definitely landed, that's what gave me confidence to go back in the second round.
On how his first fight with coach Ben Davison went, he said: "I looked good tonight, didn't I?
"Everyone I call out don't want to fight - anyone can get it!"
Davison was a little bit more circumspect.
"We need to take it step-by-step," Davison said. "Nothing is better than experience and a few rounds under his belt will be good for him."

Itauma presented with first belt

He takes the WBO intercontinental title. He will earn many more straps in the years to come.

Itauma stops Mezencev in Round 2!

Mezencev attempts to land once more and lunges forward walking onto Itauma's lightning one-two combination. Mezencev falls to the canvas and though he gets back to his feet, his legs are wobbly and the referee rules the fight is over.

Itauma-Mezencev: Round 1

The bell saves Mezencev. He is so impressive Itauma. Immediately Mezencev's fears would have been confirmed with early one-twos. On the rare occasions Mezencev was offensive, Itauma countered with a huge left hand. Seconds before the bell, left hands pushed his openent into the ropes and then a chopping right hand landed, after which his opponent slipped to the canvas.

Moses is up next...

The exciting future heavyweight champion Moses Itauma is fighting next against Ilja Mezencev (25-3, 20 KOs). It could be another early night judging by the way Mezencev was looking at the weigh in.

Chamberlain: Stoppage a shock to me

"I'm a bit frozen, I spent longer warming up in the dressing room," Chamberlain said. "The first big shot I caught him with he went.
"As for a potential fight with compatriot Sam Noakes, Chamberlain said: "I'm top ten in the WBC, I'm top ten in the WBA.
"We're on different paths."

Warren on the 'Most important fight of the 21st century'

Frank Warren is in no doubt as to the magnitude of the main event this evening.

Chamberlain stops Wahab in Round 1!

Clinical from Chamberlain. A straight left hand puts Wahab down and then after an eight count the British fighter pushed his opponent into the corner and a chopping left hand amid a flurry of shots ends the contest with the referee waving the fight off.

Mark Chamberlain is up next...

Chamberlain (15-0, 11 KOs) contests the WBC silver lightweight belt against Nigeria's Joshua Wahab (23-1, 16 KOs).

The one and only 'Hands of Stone' is in the arena

Safar wins on points!

Safar wins on all three scorecards 97-92, 99-90 and 95-94. The middle scorecard too wide a margin but all three have the fight going to the right boxer.

Kovalev-Safar: Round 10

Kovalev goes down in the final seconds of the fight! He gets back to his feet to deservedly not have another stoppage loss added to his record. To his credit Kovalev came with purpose and was still landing some shots even if they didn't have the power of days of yore. He might just have taken the last round until the huge right hand of Safar.

Kovalev-Safar: Round 9

Safar as the round goes on increases the pressure and lands with more accuracy, he is not far off a stoppage here. A weary Kovalev returns to the corner for what may be his last round of boxing.

Kovalev-Safar: Round 8

Safar is increasingly looking the more dominant as the fight goes down the stretch. He lands clean with right hands when Kovalev backs off on the ropes.

Kovalev-Safar: Round 7

A better round from Kovalev, landing more punches, even if the power shots are coming from the Swede. But he seems to be tiring now as well. A couple of nice hooks from Safar land in the final seconds of the round which may sway the judges.

Kovalev-Safar: Round 6

Kovalev came out fast landing some nice shots, but Safar is making him fight for three minutes and increasingly gets to him as the round goes on. Safar probably just ahead on points now.

Kovalev-Safar: Round 5

Safar's round again but Kovalev doing enough to stop Safar having the confidence to think about a stoppage at this stage.

Kovalev-Safar: Round 4

Safar is hurting Kovalev, especially to the body and the Swede is forcing him backwards. A jumping right hook noticeably got his opponent's attention. He ended the round throwing combinations to the body then head.

Kovalev-Safar: Round 3

A similar pattern. Kovalev winning the round with his higher workrate but Safar is making the former light-heavy king wince with his shots, especially to the body. Safar's corner reckon Kovalev has only got two more round left in him. Interesting!

Kovalev-Safar: Round 2

Kovalev looking to hook off the jab. Both targeting the body and neither afraid of trangressinfg with a couple of extra shots after the referee calls a break.

Kovalev-Safar: Round 1

Kovalev's jab is as solid as usual and wins him the round, but Safar also landing his own and some nice rights to the body.

The Krusher is next...

The former light heavyweight king Sergey Kovalev (35-4-1, 29 KOs) is fighting in a tough-looking cruiserweight contest against Swede Robin Safar (16-0, 12 KOs).

Nyika stops Seitz in Round 4!

Nyika was increasingly breaking down Seitz with his body shots and 30 seconds before the end of the round he put his opponent down with a left hook downstairs. Even before this the referee, Howard Foster, was taking a close look to see how much longer he could go on - and waved the fight off as Seitz, without conviction, got back to his feet.

Nyika-Seitz: Round 3

Nyika really is taking control of the fight now. He doesn't have respect for Seitz's power and is happy to get in close to land fierce body punches which the German is feeling.

Nyika-Seitz: Round 2

Would say Nyika takes this round, he does throw some lovely body punches which could pay dividends later in the fight, which has been extended from an 8-rounder to a 10-round contest.

Nyika-Seitz: Round 1

Nyika pawing at the jab but it is not enough to discourage Seitz who is pushing forward and throwing heavy shots in close. Nyika's chin is very upright and looks there to be hit, but the New Zealander showed his worth with a bolo uppercut and hook to the body.

Someone's O has to go...

Michael Seitz (12-0, 10 KOs) takes on David Nyika (8-0, 7 KOs) in the first fight of the Box Office bill in the cruiserweight division.
Strange walk on from Nyika

A bit of a lull in the action after the quick stoppage...

So watch Lennox Lewis rank heavyweights from the present and past

The Tale of the Tape for the big one...

Lapin stops Pudivitr in Round 1!

Lapin dominated with his southpaw jab and then threw one strong one-two which puts Pudivitr down and he didn't have much enthusiasm for carrying on as the referee waved the contest off. It looks like the shot may have knocked Pudivitr's own thumb into his own eye.

We've had a Fury protegee, now we have an Usyk man

Daniel Lapin takes (9-0, 3 KOs) takes on Octavio 'Tank' Pudivitr (9-1).

Lowe wins on points!

Lowe takes the fight on the referee's card 97-92.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 10

Ahmadi with his face swelling, lands with a big left hook and right hand as Lowe got sloppy, but the English fighter regain his composure to control the rest of the contest.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 9

Lowe had Ahmadi in trouble on the ropes but there is no quit in him and a couple of left hooks keep his opponent off him. Lowe continued to dominate, with body shots having affect, but Lowe then went back to working off the jab.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 8

Ahmadi was having one of his better rounds getting through on Lowe but a right hand put Ahmadi down. Afterwards he landed a good shot to the body and two more right hands but the bell came to Ahmadi's rescue.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 7

"Back on your jab", John Fury hollers from the corner and mostly Lowe is fighting according to orders. If he could mix in an uppercut he could force Ahmadi backwards. At present the Afghan fighter is still going forwards but his feet are slower and his hands are lower, a bad combination.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 6

It Is now a bit more matador and bull now with Lowe controlling things from range, Ahmadi still having some success as he charges forward but he is too easy to hit.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 5

It could be a shut out this, despite it not being totally one-way traffic. Ahmadi has certainly not lost heart and had a good end to the round.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 4

Lowe could be making things easier for himself, instead he is electing to trade with Ahmadi. Although he is getting the better of the contest, this round was closer with both landing power shots.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 3

Lowe increases his points lead, he doesn't look like hurting Ahmadi but is the boss in there. A clash of heads has left Ahmadi with a cut above his eye too.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 2

Both fighters putting everything in to this opening contest, but Lowe is the classier fighter and landing the higher frequency and variety of shots.

Lowe-Ahmadi: Round 1

Lowe the more active taking the centre of the ring and landing jabs as well as hooks and uppercuts in close. Ahmadi landed a few left hooks of his own to body and head too, but Lowe's round.

1510: Isaac Lowe is opening the show

Tyson Fury's close friend Lowe (24-2,8 KOs) is in action first of all against Hasibullah Ahmadi (16-1, 5 KOs) in a featherweight contest.

1500: We are now live on TNT Sports 3

You can watch live of course on discovery+.

Let's clear up the weigh in confusion first...

We were all surprised when Usyk weighed in at 233lbs...it turns out that is because he didn't. He weighed in at 223lbs, very similar to that he has in all his recent fights. Michael Buffer made a mistake as it turns out. No wonder he didn't look any bigger than normal.

HELLO AND WELCOME...

Thanks for joining our coverage of the biggest night of boxing in more than a generation, as we build up to Tyson Fury taking on Oleksandr Usyk for all the belts in the heavyweight division - crowning an undisputed champion for the first time in 25 years.
