A Southwest Airlines passenger left fellow travellers in astonishment as she was caught on camera napping inside the plane’s overhead bin. The peculiar incident, captured in a TikTok video that has since gone viral with over 5.1 million views, depicts an unidentified woman lying lengthwise in the overhead compartment, resembling someone preparing for a deep slumber in a futuristic pod.
The video, shared with a caption that humourously quips, “Southwest is wildin’,” shows the passengers' reactions as they encounter the unexpected sight. Laughter and incredulity fill the air as the videographers attempt to comprehend the unusual spectacle unfolding above them.
Internet users were equally puzzled and entertained by the impromptu overhead siesta. Comments flooded in, with one user expressing disbelief: “I need more information.” Another wondered aloud, “How did she get up there??” Amidst the amusement, some playfully referenced Southwest’s seating policy, with one joking, “Southwest does allow you to choose your own seat,” pointing to the carrier's open seating system.

This is not the first incident of its kind.
In previous instances, travellers have been caught lounging in overhead compartments, much to the bewilderment of their fellow passengers. Last year, a similar episode occurred on a Ryanair flight departing from Ibiza, Spain, where a passenger was filmed waking up inside an overhead bin.
Similarly, in 2019, a Southwest Airlines flight attendant sparked confusion after she was discovered sequestered in the overhead storage bin at Nashville International Airport.
