Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie's Barbie movie salaries have been revealed. Starring Robbie as the titular fashion doll, the Barbie movie has become one of the most anticipated titles of 2023. Directed by Lady Bird and Little Women's Greta Gerwig, the live-action film based on the famed Mattel doll was officially announced in 2019. Since its inception, the Barbie film experienced numerous changes and originally starred Amy Schumer as Barbie before she backed out due to creative differences with the studio.

Written by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, the upcoming movie has kept major plot details under wraps while doling out images of Robbie's picturesque Barbie character. Last month, the film unveiled the first look at Gosling's Ken, which sparked new interest in the film and divided fans over the seemingly older appearance of Barbie's male counterpart. In addition to Robbie and Gosling, the cast list consists of some of Hollywood's finest, including Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Emma Mackey, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, and new Doctor Who actor Ncuti Gatwa.

Now it's been revealed how much Robbie and Gosling are taking home for their portrayals of the iconic dolls. In a report released by Variety, Robbie and Gosling are being paid $12.5 million each for their lead roles in the Barbie movie. As it stands, their estimated salaries of $12.5 million for Barbie is the same amount that Steve Carell is earning for his voiceover work in Minions: The Rise of Gru.

Indeed, Robbie and Gosling as Barbie and Ken have become internet sensations as images of them were released during filming. So far, Barbie's behind-the-scenes photos and videos have offered a sneak peek at vibrant costumes, rollerblading scenes, and Gosling's Ken releasing a high-pitched scream. Gosling and Robbie's earnings for Barbie may not be as high as other A-listers in top film franchises, such as Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick salary and Will Smith's $35 million payout for Emancipation, but their pay amounts appear to have been well-negotiated.

Of course, the Barbie movie is expected to turn a profit at the box office as the film continues to generate hype for its 2023 release. For now, Barbie stars have reportedly wrapped filming, so the creative forces behind the anticipated movie will likely start to release more details soon to keep the fan momentum going. Slated to hit theaters on July 21, 2023, the Barbie movie will see Robbie and Gosling bring Barbie and Ken to life and put their distinctive and creative spin on the eponymous fashion dolls.
