A great place to try Beijing duck

We wanted to try Beijing duck before we left Beijing. This was the prefect place to try it! The waitress helped us with our order and demonstrated how the put the pancake together when the food arrived. It was a fun experience and the duck was perfect! The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Overrated and overpriced

On reviews we thought we’d dine at ‘the best Peking Duck restaurant’ in Beijing. We ordered a whole duck. The chef wheeled it out and began carving. What we got was a plate of duck breast and the rest was taken away. Over-rated and over priced in my opinion. I would not suggest you dine here unless you have lots of $$$.

Great Peking Duck in Peking

Wonderful presentation, the peking duck is cut by chefs in the room you are seated and they are skilled at what they do. Tasty and beautifully presented, as non Chinese speakers they coped well with our requests. We had a whole duck between 2 and whilst lovely next time we would have less duck and a little variety.

The Beijing duck is very average. Can't compare to d****g or s********u. The food is average. However this place is clean and deserve 4 stars for the dining hall and the toilet

We had late lunch at Quanjude Wangfujing branch at about 1.30pm on a Friday. There was no crowd & no queue. We ordered a set lunch for 2 persons at CNY 460. It includes half Bejing duck, stir fried broccoli, fried prawn, fruit platter, a jug of passion fruit drink & side dishes. Food serving was of good portion, sufficient for two persons. Staff was attentive & welcoming. Overall, we had an enjoyable meal and would recommend this restaurant.

A long queue, average food

This place seems to be a bit of an institution, with long queues, branded fans and Chinese visitors having their photos taken. We joined the queue, thinking it would be a good place to try Peking duck, however after queueing for over an hour we were a bit underwhelmed with the actual duck. The chef came and carved it by our table and we had a fun tray of starters, but not sure it was worth the wait!

Great food, exceptional service

The experience was great. We got a bit lost during the waiting as numbers were called only in Chinese. Once seated, we chose the roasted duck and it came in around 30 minutes, freshly made. The waiter was also mindful of my son’s allergy and used a translator to help. He also give us a quick “course” on how to eat roasted duck.

Best roast duck

Our family of 4 came here on recommendation and it did not disappoint. Very thinly sliced duct, crispy, melt-in-your-mouth skin and paper thin tortilla wrap. They had some offering of non-meat dishes, too.

Only roast duck… though still not the best

Honestly, only roast duck worth to try. Though I don’t find it best (I did try other brand before too), but at least won’t go too wrong cause it’s their signature. As for other dishes, if you’re a Chinese who always eat Chinese food and can also cook Chinese food, then you can totally skip other dishes. We tried a few their top rated dishes, surprisingly not nice at all. Braised pork tough, meat puff too oily and not crispy, duck heart 鸭心 too dry..

Average taste but great service.

The service is great but the roast duck was average. Don't find any reason to go there again. I always prefer piping hot food but the duck served although hot a hot plate over a flame was cold.

Excellent roast duck. Inedible beef dish.

Quanjude serve up an excellent Beijing duck in elegant dining rooms. It's not cheap. On this occasion I also tried a beef dish and had to return it. The meat was so tough that it was impossible to chew, completely inedible. The restaurant took the dish off the bill without any quibble. But that should not have to happen.

A must try in Beijing

We ordered half of the duck, one fried rice, two side dishes and one dessert plus one pot of tea and added up about 430RMB, not super cheap but for the quality and service of the restaurant I would said it is a good experience. The staff was friendly and assisted to teach us how to do the wrap in local way. We had a very filling lunch.
