Bonnie, Christy, and Jill are acting like total opposites of themselves, the result of a little spiritual guidance, but each outcome is very different. This is what happened this week on Mom.

After getting rejected by every law school she applied to, Christy is left in a sour, defeated mood. From lying on the couch all day and skipping class to being more mopey than usual at her AA meeting, Christy is obviously in a funk, but not for long.

Kristin Chenoweth (of Pushing Daisies and American Gods) guest stars as Miranda, Jill’s motorcycle riding “inner strength” coach from her weight loss retreat, who initially rubs Bonnie and Christy the wrong way.

With Marjorie unable to cheer Christy up, Miranda decides she wants to help her out, taking her on an unusually musical, but really hilarious, “spiritual journey” in order to rid her of all her “bad energy.” After letting it slip that she spent $500 on the treatment, Bonnie, believing she was scammed, takes it upon herself to get Christy’s money back, but ends up allowing Miranda to “open her up,” on the house, of course. Having been “fracked wide open,” Bonnie is turned into an emotional, blubbering mess.

Meanwhile, the newly positive Christy heads to the local law school to speak with the admissions director, curious as to whether there was anything she could do to change her admission status. Learning she just needs to bump up her LSAT scores a hair to be a shoo-in, Christy becomes re-invigorated to achieve her dream of being a lawyer.

Encouraged by her “everything in moderation” lifestyle, Jill tests herself by baking cookies and only eating half of one. Unfortunately, while Miranda was out on a hike, Jill tried to do the same with alcohol, failing horribly. With all her friends around her, Jill admits how ashamed she is for giving up on her sobriety.
