Return of aerial circumnavigation re-enactment to RAAF Base Point Cook

Adventurer Michael Smith is returning on Sunday 19 May to RAAF Base Point Cook from his historic recreation flight of the first circumnavigation of Australia 100 years ago.

Mr Smith plans to return at 2.10pm - the same time as the arrival of the original flight.

On arrival, Mr Smith will return to the Commanding Officer of Number 21 Squadron, Wing Commander Rob Gill, the RAAF ensign presented to him on departure.

Retired Navy Commander David Goble, grandson of Wing Commander Stanley Goble who conducted the first flight, will present artefacts from the first flight to Mr Smith.

Mr Smith is available for interview after the presentations.

All flying activities are conducted within strict safety guidelines. Flying is subject to variables including; air traffic control requirements and weather. As such, flying events and the number of aircraft may be subject to change, or cancellation at short notice.
