A medical centre in Melbourne's east has identified one of its doctors as the man whose body was found on a street in the suburb of Doncaster after a home invasion on Saturday.
The Box Hill Superclinic said Ash Gordon was "well loved and respected by everyone".
"We regret to share the shocking news that our beloved colleague has tragically passed away following a home invasion," the bulk-billing family clinic said on its website.
"We cannot imagine what his family and loved ones must be going through as our team share in their grief."
Flowers have been left near the site where Dr Gordon died, and a tribute has been taped to a pole.
"I'm lost for words," it reads.
"A true gentleman, intelligent, honest, compassionate, friendly, generous … I don't think there is one positive characteristic I could leave out."
Police on Saturday said the body of 33-year-old man had been found on Eildon Street in Doncaster in the early hours of the morning.
"It is understood the man was also a victim in an aggravated burglary on Sargent Street, Doncaster shortly before he was located," the police statement said.
"This is a tragic set of circumstances, and our thoughts are with his friends, family and community, and we will continue to support the community through this terrible time" Inspector Carlie Kohler said on Saturday.
No arrests have been made and the homicide squad is continuing investigations.
