CueScript CEO Sadie Groom has announced with great sadness the passing of its founder, Brian Larter, at the age of 58. Larter, a beloved and respected figure in the broadcast industry, was known for his pioneering work in prompting solutions and his legendary sense of humor. Diagnosed with a rare pancreatic cancer in 2018, he spent the last five years undergoing treatment while cherishing time with his family—wife Justine, daughters Louise, Gina, and Abbie, and his grandsons.

Larter’s illustrious career began at Autocue, where he transitioned from rental to sales before acquiring BDL Autoscript with Michael Accardi. Together, they expanded the company globally before selling it to Vitec Videocom in 2006. In 2014, unable to stay away from the industry he loved, Larter and Accardi founded CueScript, which quickly became a leading provider of prompting solutions worldwide, including for the famous Christmas Day message. He also served as a long-term member of the IBC Exhibition Committee.

Beyond his professional achievements, Larter was a keen cyclist, football fan, and car enthusiast, often spending summers driving his vintage Stag around Europe. He will be deeply missed by his friends, colleagues, and all who knew him.

In honor of Larter, his family has requested that donations be made to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which provided tremendous support to them. Donations can be made here.
