Taking to Instagram, Madonna recalled the tribute she paid to her late mother during her recent performance at the Celebration Tour. She wrote a long and heartfelt caption alongside photos from her tour.

I stood on stage for 81 shows staring up at the beautiful face of my mother and wondering what she must’ve been thinking as she waved goodbye to me from her hospital window,” the star said in the post with a shot of her on stage during a Celebration show, staring up at a large photo of her mother.

Recalling the last moment she saw her mother, Madonna further wrote, “I stepped into the station wagon and shut the door not knowing it was the last time I’d see her.” She further asserted that at the age of five, the truth about her mother’s death was kept from her for a long time.

Nobody told me my mother was dying – I just watched her disintegrate mysteriously and then she disappeared and there was no explanation except that she had gone to sleep which explains My Tumultuous relationship with sleep,” the singer said.

Throughout the Celebration tour, Madonna’s performances of ‘Mother and Father‘ featured some imagery that honored the maternal figures important to her, including Malita, the biological mother of her adopted son, David Banda.

I would look up at. Davids Mother -Malita across the stage And have the same thoughts. Was I doing a good job ? Is she proud of her Son? Am I the mother she would want me to be??” she said, referring to her adopted son and his biological mother.
