Before I begin, I need to put my comments in context. I am adopted and was raised in a loving home by adoptive parents who were absoulutely my “parents”.

They may not have been blood related but they were my mom and dad in every way that counted. Not once, did i have a need to look up my biological parents. Yes, I knew all my life I was adopted and my dad use to tell me that I was special, because, I was chosen!

So, here’s my beef with the Trina “father” storyline. Where is the man who raised her for most of her life? Why do we never ever see any scenes with the two of them. What happened to nothing will ever stop you from being my father? We never see him, we were given a bit of a hint that he wasn’t handling the realization that he was not her biological well, with his secret drinking, but suddenly you never see or hear from him. You never hear Trina talking about him, or wondering how he is, or where he is. All her concern is for Curtis and his extended family.

Why wasn’t here there when Spencer “died”? You would think this would be a time when he would have reached out to her, to offer her comfort and support. Nope, it was all about Curtis and his annoying family.

I am so damn disappointed on how GH has handled this, basically my take on this is, the father that loved and raised her is disaposable. I have “real” father now:( ughhhhhh!!!

Listen, if the actor is it RA? is unavailable they could have gotten someone else to take the part for now. Parents that aren’t blood related are just as much parents as biological ones. Sometimes, better than biological ones.

GH had a real chance to explore this storyline and make it interesting, but instead it’s “instant” family.

So annoyed!!!

I think Taggert had been on a bender. He has now probably gone to stay with Gia.

I am not sure that the actor who played Marcus Taggert wants to return. I know he has health issues.

they can still recast

I agree with you. It isn’t the first story that has been dropped. GH has been particularly bad about this.

From things I have read from other posters, they are not happy when an actor has been replaced. It took the powers that be 3 times to cast a new Molly that viewers liked.

In total agreement with you.

I agree with you. Taggert should be part of Trina’s life. He should at least be mentioned in conversation, so we know they at least see each other or talk. They made such a big deal that it wasn’t going to change anything regardless of the paternity results. Frustrating :disappointed::disappointed::disappointed:

I agree and the last we saw of him he had a drinking problem and he was very depressed. If the original actor doesn’t want to return then they can get a recast very easily, it was done by the original actor who was out for medical treatment.

I’m not adopted and this part of the storyline really bugged me too. Taggart hasn’t been seen since sometime in July 2023. He was last seen in Kelly’s pouring booze into his tea.

The actor has posted on his social media that he would welcome the opportunity to return.

Saying one thing and being in an actual situation can be two different things. I am an aunt to a child that got adopted out. I always said I would love to have had the adopted child in my life as said child grew up with the adopted parents. Well, low and behold, this adopted child (as an adult) contacted me and wanted to meet. Things were fine at first as we connected. Then for reasons I can’t explain/know why I became indifferent to said child. It was nothing the child did. It was all on me. I have the feeling that GH is having the Taggert character (original actor or recast) stay away because he can’t handle the situation. I’m fine with no Taggert. Maybe if he stops hurting he’ll show up again. Trina sure isn’t losing any sleep over missing Taggert.

Understandable. I’m actually an adopted child and never knew my birth family. It was an international adoption, so I’m not finding anyone. I’ve always been ok with it, but filling out medical paperwork is always loads of fun.:crazy_face::crazy_face:

Then they need to bring him back. That’s terrible though the way they wrote him having a drinking problem then we don’t hear anything about him, Trina doesn’t go visit him, and she could really use him to talk to right now. All those years just don’t get washed away because of a DNA test.

Yep! Those health issues he had were from a while ago. He has stated more than once that he’s absolutely ready to return, should GH be inclined to write him back into the storyline.

Back to what the OP said. Even if they don’t want to bring him back into the canvas, at least she could mention him from time to time.

I, too, am VERY disappointed in the way they have not even acknowledged that he ever existed. They can do better than this.

Exactly! :+1:

For 20 plus years he was her father in every way that matters.

No phone calls, not even one-sided ones. Absolutely no mention of him at all even at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

And as you say, the actor is not sick; his character is just not being written for.

If they don’t want Taggart on the show anymore, then they should write him out. Kill the character and let Trina properly mourn. Then we can understand why she doesn’t mention him.

But the way they went about it, makes absolutely no sense.

I think if you get a DNA test from one of those that offer it you could find out what diseases, if any, you’re susceptible to. I forgot the name of the site. It’s not Ancestry com that just tells you your origins and relatives. But there is one out there .

Yeah, it’s always something that I might do one day. I’m fairly young and in good health, so I’m not in a rush. Plus they are a bit of money.

Yeah no mention of him in a loooooong time. And the loving daughter Trina dropped him like a hot rock.

I hope he is doing well.
Maybe when Spencer died, the writers could have added something about Taggert, like having Trina mention that she had talked to him. He was so loving, it’s sad he was left out
