Black Sabbath Debut Album

Released 1970

The band’s debut album blew everyone’s minds with a cover that scared the rock and roll out of you. Oh boy? That was all forgotten the second you flipped that LP on your turntable. No one had ever sounded like this. The album’s title track will give you the Willys as it’s based on a very scary experience that Geezer Butler had one morning. Standout tracks on the album include the title track,  “N.I.B.” and “Evil Woman.” The album featured the band’s original lineup of Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass, Bill Ward on drums, and Ozzy Osbourne on lead vocals.

Paranoid

Released 1970

While their debut album turned out to be a shocker and stands probably the first real genuine heavy metal album of all time, their follow-up album turned the band into a household name because of the single “Paranoid.”However, the album would contain some of the band’s soon to be classics like “Iron Man” and “War Pigs.” A truly classic Blak Sabbath album. The record featured a lineup that included Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass, Bill Ward on drums, and Ozzy Osbourne on lead vocals.

Master of Reality

Released 1971

Black Sabbath Vol 4

Released 1972

For the band’s fourth album, the group decided to take over the producer role themselves. The result was a record that continued developing the group’s heavy metal sound of doom, darkness, and all-out fun that kept building a new heavy metal audience. The lineup for the record continued to be Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass, Bill Ward on drums, and Ozzy Osbourne on lead vocals.

Sabotage

Even though the band was going through legal issues with their former manager, Black Sabbath still turned out their sixth straight brilliant heavy metal album. The lineup featured Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass, Bill Ward on drums, and Ozzy Osbourne on lead vocals.

Technical Ecstasy

Never Say Die!

Released 1978

The band’s eighth album Never Say Die would be the final album to feature Ozzy Osbourne on lead vocals at least for a while. Ozzy would return many years later, but the changing of the guard would happen on the next record.

Heaven and Hell

Released 1980

One might have thought that without Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath would no longer exist. However, the band’s new lead vocalist Ronnie James Dio would prove that point wrong. Black Sabbath’s album Heaven And Hell would prove to be a huge commercial success has many fans accepted Ronnie James Dio’s magnificent heavy metal voice.

Seventh Star

Released 1986

A lot of people don’t recognize Seven Star as a true Black Sabbath album. In fact, it really wasn’t meant to be a Black Sabbath album as the only original member of Black Sabbath on the record is Tony Iommi. The album also features a lineup that consisted of Glenn Hughes on vocals, Dave Spitz on bass, Eric Singer on drums, and Geoff Nicholls on keyboards

Cross Purposes

Released 1994

The return of Ronnie James Dio as the lead vocalist in Black Sabbath only lasted one album. Back in the band was Tony Martin on lead vocals. The record also featured a new drummer named Bobby Rondinelli who had played in Rainbow for a short time. Geezer Butler was still on bass, Geoff Nicholls was back on keyboards. and of course, the whole thing was led by Tony Iommi.

Released 2013

The band’s reunion album was pretty much surprise for all Black Sabbath fans. It had been 20 almost 20 years and nobody was expecting a new Black Sabbath record. This is absolutely the final Black Sabbath album at least that’s what Geezer Butler told us. The album featured the return of Ozzy Osbourne as the band’s lead vocalist. It also featured original members Tony Iommi on guitar and Geezer Butler on bass. However, it wasn’t a one hundred percent return to the original lineup as original drummer Bill Ward did not play on the album. Brad Wilkes took over the drumming duties for the band’s final studio recording.
