sarah and michaels lack of chemistry

i love prison break and am currently on my 6th rewatch when i noticed sometbing weird, it doesn’t seem like sarah and michael actually have much chemistry between each other? like i understand how there was an infatuation between them for one another but i don’t see the love and chemistry there. their entire existence as a couple revolves around being on the run and saving each other which is cute and does give the initial impression that they’re deeply in love, but when you actually watch them function together i don’t see a connection. they kiss two times and suddenly she’s pregnant. maybe it’s just bad writing/acting but something was definitely missing between them

I think the guy who plays Michael is gay irl and doesn't like to play straight characters (today he no longer does). So I think there may have been a but if resistance/awkwardness there.

Generally, I think one of the bigger issues is that so much is happening in the show. This means there was little time to really focus on their relationship and make it good.

Like season 1 was actually decent. There was a hint of chemistry and feeling. There was a connection. And season 1 was heavily focused on that relationship and how he needed her to escape. VS. S2+ the romance wasn't needed, and so fell flat when everything else took priority.

Tbh idk if it’s because of Wentworth being gay or just bad writing tbh. I don’t think the people writing PB were good at writing love stories.
