Kristin Chenoweth Steps Out with New Boyfriend in N.Y.C.: 'He's a Good Man,' She Tells PEOPLE

Kristin Chenoweth is just too popular to stay on the market!

The Broadway and TV veteran, 46, stepped out at her Social Life Magazine cover party in downtown New York City Monday with new boyfriend Andrew Pruett.

The two have been dating for three months, PEOPLE confirms, and from the looks of it the couple seemed to be smitten with each other while posing for photos.

“He’s a good man,” Chenoweth tells PEOPLE of Pruett, who works in advertising.

The couple, who met through a mutual friend, began seeing each other right before the Tony Awards, which Chenoweth co-hosted with Alan Cumming.

And while the versatile, multitalented star moves seamlessly from stage to screen, she reveals that she is “most happy” when on Broadway.

“That live audience, I need it,” Chenoweth says.

The star is currently playing the role of Lily Garland in the Broadway production of On the Twentieth Century, a role she views as “the best work” she’s done.

Chenoweth will continue to sing and dance after her Broadway show closes July 19, but this time on the Disney Channel. The actress will take on the role of the evil Maleficent in Disney’s upcoming musical Descendants.

“This is the story about the villains,” Chenoweth says of the movie. “It’s really the story about their children and how they are sent over to another island to do bad, not good … When they get over there they discover that maybe they want to do good.”

Liv & Maddie star Dove Cameron plays Chenoweth’s daughter Mal in the Disney Channel musical.

“[The] first day of shooting she started singing to me all of my songs from Wicked and Candide and all the things that I’m sort of known for, and I thought, I’ve lived long enough now that now, the way I view Bernadette Peters, she’s viewing me,” Chenoweth says of her onscreen daughter. “And it really touched my heart.”

Descendants airs July 31 at 8 p.m. on the Disney Channel.
