- JuanMao 卷毛Shanghai, China75 contributionsThe gates open at 8am, but you can walk around the lake earlier for a first impression. Inside it is well cared and organized; various bamboo, flowers and plants, the beautiful lotus leaves and flowers are very photogenic. Nice to see the morning rituals of the locals, it seems as if everyone has their own area. Definitely a nice city park. Wonderful to walk there, and to start your day... There are several tea houses, where Yunn Coffee is the hippest.Written August 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ailton007Seattle, WA1,172 contributionsGreat way to spend a day. We only had one night in Kunming and Dragon's Gate was a great mix of culture, hiking, panoramic views and good food at the end. Found a Chinese noodle place that we really liked. Check the weather prior and go on a sunny day! There's little shuttle buses that i highly recommend buying tickets for. You can walk up the hill but not much to see there.Written September 17, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Julie JHolbox, Mexico235 contributionsThe recreated buildings and villages are marvelous and one of the last places you can really see many of them.
The villages are inhabited by minority entertainers and their families and they seem to enjoy performing but you will see it’s their home and you’re intruding around meal times.
The Wa hair dance and the minority Bamboo Stick Dance (I think it’s the Li but I am not sure) were the highlight of the shows.Written June 10, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Arrived by coach, followed by a tram (like thosein zoos), and then a 2-person chairlift, and then hiked down along the side of the mountain. Very narrow but felt safe. Very good views. Lots of photo spots and they have their staff taking photos of you and you can buy them for 20 chinese yuan.Written January 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - YamcoDAYTON229 contributionsThe landscapes are beautiful, and good views. However, you will probably see more color in the fall. Many of the fields were covered with plastic - as they plant they are now putting plastic down the rows (prevent wind damage? help retain moisture?) The road to Dongchuan came to an abrupt stop at a bridge that was out of commission. It wasn't noted on any maps or GPS - our driver and guide were quite surprised. The weather was hazy (or perhaps some air pollution). Without a polarizer, the pix are so-so.Written May 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JuanMao 卷毛Shanghai, China75 contributionsEntrance is 6 rmb various buildings, often with beautiful old details. If you have time, it is interesting to see the temple. During my visit there was a ceremony, many reciting monks and their rituals. Near the temple are several shops and restaurants.Written August 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Breeze2,191 contributionsDue to the limited time and just walking along the share and seeing lots of seagulls. It is just the season to see the seagulls, however, the day we visited was very hot.
It is a very huge lake which even looks like the sea.
I wish to stay longer next time and even stay overnight to enjoy the view and easy life there.Written June 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Organized in terms of topic, for example costumes, jewelry, pottery, literature etc. Most signs and labels also have English translations, and are very clear and informative. The museum itself is also very nice, with open hallways and a garden in the centre. It's a good alternative to visiting the minorities village.Written July 28, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JasneshBhullarMentakab, Malaysia137 contributionsLocated a far bit off the centre of Kunming, the Golden temple scenic area is a massive park. Once we reached, we walked up a fair bit of stairs. Then we arrive at a stop where we had the option of taking a coaster ride up to the main part of the park or walk. The coaster is 30rmb. it is convenient but fairly quick (the ride up isn't even 2 minutes). The golden temple is beautiful. There are a lot of gardens surrounding the area too and there's a Bell tower, that offers good views. The walk to the other part of the part goes through a very beautiful garden/forest.Written January 3, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - yipjcs88Hong Kong, China9,965 contributionsI went there in June and it was lotus time, so it was exciting. The park without lotus may be quite ordinary but with extensive lotus patches the park will brighten up with charm. Apart from taking lots of photos of lotus, I went up the main pagoda to take photos of panoramic views. It is a good place for relaxing oneself.Written September 1, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- 39 degrees NBeijing, China18 contributionsThis was a nice park to stroll along and view the mountain and lake DianChi. Right near the park we rented an Alipay electric scooter for 2.5 yuan and rode across the Hubin west road which looked like more fun than the gondola cable car.Written May 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
