Momo

Momo is the main character of the Google game series. Momo is the protagonist of the 2016 Game and the 2020 Game, the deuteragonist of the 2017 Film, and a side character in the Champion Island Games. She is a black cat with big yellow eyes and a grey robe. She carries a wand around with her which she uses to kill the Ghosts. Momo is based on Juliana Chen's cat of the same name.

Description

Momo is a small black cat (possibly a kitten) with big yellow eyes. Her nose and mouth are not visible (although her mouth does sometimes appear, mainly when smiling) and she wears a grey robe. She carries a wand around. In 2017, she wore a yellow witch costume for Halloween.

Appearances

Global Candy Cup

Momo first appeared in 2015 as the unnamed pet cat of the Yellow Witch in the Global Candy Cup. They won the competition.

Magic Cat Academy 1

Momo and her friends were studying in the school's library when Momo was reading a Spell Book. However, the book suddenly was taken out of her paws and snatched by the Boss Ghost, who called upon his fellow Ghosts and took over the school.

Momo woke up to find her friends gone and the library destroyed. She was determined to save her school so she picked up her wand and raced off. In the library, she encountered her first batch of Ghosts, that she quickly disposed of. However, after killing the Librarian Ghost, she marched on and defeated the Cauldron Ghost, Planetarium Ghost and the Coach Ghost.

After all the other Ghost commanders were dead, she grabbed a broomstick and flew into the sky where the Boss Ghost consumed the book's powers and became a monster. Momo fought him and managed to strike lightning onto him, saving her school. After landing down on a tower, her friends cheered her.

Magic Cat Academy 2

Momo and her friends were still celebrating their victory on top of the tower when the Boss Ghost fell on top of a nearby ship, with another cat onboard. The cat is forced to abandon ship as the Ghost fell into the ocean, then corrupting the ocean.

Momo, after seeing this, jumped straight into the ocean, forgetting that she needs to breathe. Thankfully, the Frog Sorcerer used a magic spell to make a magical bubble around Momo's head. After arriving in the ocean, Momo fought the army of Ghosts and teamed up with Captain Sugar. She was able to defeat the Boss Ghost once and for all and returned to the castle to celebrate.

Jinx's Night Out

On Halloween of 2017, Momo and her friends (including the Frog Sorcerer) went out trick-or-treating. When Momo's hat fell off, someone dressed as a Ghost picked it up and handed it to her. However, the wind blew off their Ghost costume, revealing that they were actually a Ghost. Realising that this Ghost (named Jinx) was not evil like many other Ghosts, she gave him the hat and became friends with him.

Momo was the trophy master but took a break and had Crane do her job for her, but then Lucky came and convinced her to come back.

Relationships

Frog Sorcerer

The Frog Sorcerer appears to be very good friends with Momo. When she freed the school from the Ghosts, the Frog applauded her, along with the others. When she dived into the ocean, he cast a spell which generated a bubble around her head, which allowed her to breathe underwater. In 2017 Halloween, the Frog went out for Halloween with her.

Captain Sugar

Momo first saw Captain Sugar on her ship, however, after the Ghosts took control of the ocean, Momo instantly decided to go save Sugar, diving into the ocean without hesitation. They later became friends and defeated the Ghosts once and for all.

Jinx

On Halloween, 2017, Jinx attempted to become Momo's friend in many ways. Jinx tried to conceal his identity as a Ghost from Momo, so that she wouldn't see him as an enemy. Despite Momo's battles with the evil Ghosts, Momo realised that Jinx was in fact a good Ghost, she accepted him as her friend. It is likely that they stayed friends.

Boss Ghost

The Boss Ghost was Momo's enemy. They first met in the school's library, when he stole the Spell Book from her. Momo was determined to save her school from the Ghosts and not allow the Boss Ghost to use the Spell Book's powers. The Boss Ghost underestimated her abilities, thinking that he could defeat her with ease. However, she proved him wrong, defeating him twice, the second time she managed to destroy him once and for all.

Trivia

Momo was based on Juliana Chen's cat, who was a Google doodler.
Momo made her debut in the Halloween 2015 doodle, appearing as a normal non-anthropomorphic cat owned by the Yellow Witch.
- In 2017, she is dressed as a Yellow Witch, in a reference to that.
The 2015 Google Halloween is non-canon due to the fact that she is a normal cat in 2015 and in both games and the film she is magic.
Momo made an appearance in 2018 in one of the paintings in the mansion level but that is non-canon to the Magic Cat Academy series.
Her best friends are Frog Sorcerer, Fox Sorcerer and Jinx.
Her age is unknown, as stated from a tweet from Juliana Chen — "That's a good question, I honestly don't know. It feels weird to assign an age to her retroactively, esp since I associate her to a real cat. Maybe "ageless" for now? I'll think about it more in the future!"
Momo is the only playable character in both games.
