I had points from IHG because of a horrendous Holiday Inn Express stay. I read the reviews VERY carefully before making my decision to stay here and I am glad that I did.

On Sunday night I used points and stayed free and Monday night I paid for my night, happily!

This is listed as a resort instead of a hotel. You enter through the casino. Then you walk through to an elevator that you take to the lobby of the hotel. Then, you walk from that elevator to the front desk. Here the friendly, welcoming staff already had my key and paperwork ready for when I checked in. Then you walk around the front desk to an elevator where you go from the lobby and go upstairs to one of the hotel's floors. These are different buildings stacked up against the mountain.

I went down to the casino. Heidi at the player's club was INCREDIBLE. She went ABOVE and BEYOND to make our stay REMARKABLE!

Our room was newly renovated and beautiful. The floor was tiled at the foyer and bathroom. The bedroom was no-shag carpet. The beds and pillows felt amazing. Each headboard curved around the side. The light next to the headboard was appropriately shielded by the headboard to make the light the perfect brightness.

The TV was huge. It was on a bracket that allowed it to be angled in any direction.

The refrigerator and microwave were behind rattan doors. This made them look better. It also hid the light from the microwave.

There is live music and multiple eating locations, including one that combines the option for betting on live sports events. There is a coffee shop and gift shop. The pool and hot tub were closed for renovation when I was there.

Our family of 4 stayed for a week and I feel we were in the best possible location to walk to downtown historic Deadwood. Free parking on site (most hotels downtown don't have their own parking), nice size rooms with spacious bathroom (huge shower), and beds very comfortable. The only thing that would've made the rooms nicer would be better lighting, but this wouldn't stop me from staying here again. The Six String restaurant inside the hotel had good food but most days we chose elsewhere to eat. Overall, one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed at.

We stayed here for the first time. They have the best service for a hotel I have ever stayed at. The ladies at the front desk are so sweet and kind. We traveled with a dog they have a nice area to take pets out. Our room was large it had a table, desk and chairs we even had room for a rollaway bed with still room in the room. The bathroom is large with a walk in shower the water pressure is great. Everyone was very friendly couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We will be back again. The is a hotel that knows how to treat customers.

I had vacillated about where to stay. I had made other reservations and changed to this property. I am so glad I did!

Getting to the front door isn't obvious. You have to drive up to the parking garage and leave your luggage at the entrance to the casino. Hotel parking is the first level of the parking garage and very convenient. Although we had to call the front desk to figure this out. Then you walk thru the casino to an elevator that takes you to the lobby of the hotel.

The location of the DMG, is the best in Deadwood. The hotel is very centrally located. Our check-in was easy. We were upgraded due to our IHG status. Our room was large and quiet. Very clean! Had many extra features like a microwave and a balcony. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom is large although it only offered a shower. This is actually a very nice Holiday Inn! The hotel supposedly offers housekeeping, but due to Covid, we took the extra points.

The hotel offers an indoor pool and a hot tub. Which is by reservation only. Our time slot only had one other couple. This made us happy.

Restaurants are in the casino section. We utilized them multiple times and the food and service were very good. Everywhere in this hotel and casino are hand sanitizing stations. We observed employees constantly wiping down surfaces on counters and slot machines. I felt they did a good job of making this place safe to visit!

We originally were going to stay at the Marriott Springhill Suites, but I wanted a 3rd night and it was $200. So I canceled and moved here. The cost was less and the location of this property can't be beat.

We would stay here again. We really liked this property!

I have never paid as much for a hotel room as I did this room only to find that a "king view" room has a view over a roof to a parking lot. Photos on the website show balconies. We have no balcony. And it just a regular sized decent hotel room. Nothing special. One of the reasons I chose this hotel is because I wanted to treat myself to a spa day on my 60th birthday. After booking 3 nonrefundable nights at close to a thousand dollars the receipt page says that the spa is closed. Great time to tell me that. It is a good location for walking the town. Like many others have mentioned you walk through the casino to a set of elevators up to the check-in desks. Then up another set of elevators to your room. Lots of confused people wandering around trying to remember how to get to their room. Attempted to have dinner at the Six String Grill last night and although it was not the least bit crowded the kid at the hostess desk told us there was a 20 minute wait. We went elsewhere. Guess I had my hopes too high for this place.

Checked in on the 6th for a 1 night stay and got a room on third floor Mt Moriah room and view.
Nice clean comfortable with ok wait staff.
When you check in you have to go thru casino to elevator go up to 3 floor to hotel lobby to check in then back to your vehicle to park and install your parking permit and get luggage to take back to room.
No coffee at hotel in the morning so back down to casino to bar for coffee, town don’t start waking up till after 7 so if you want a nice walk around in the morning there is no folks on the street.
Our room had a balcony and we enjoyed the peace and quite and views in the evening and in the AM, bed and pillows were comfortable and shower had plenty of pressure and hot water.
Gambling and restaurant below hotel but didn’t eat there due to wanting to eat at Legends steakhouse.
All in all a nice stay and would stay again

My wife and I stayed at the Deadwood Mountain Grand during our vacation to the Black Hills and used this as our home base. We chose this hotel more for the amenities of the property and activity of Deadwood over its distance to attractions throughout the Black Hills. Yes there are places to stay more central to activities throughout the Black Hills like the much smaller Custer or Hill City with less activity, and even Rapid City that has the feel (to me) of any "x,y, or z city" in America. Deadwood has the charm of a western town, yet still with plenty to do in the area. The hotel itself has plenty to offer in its restaurants, shop, and casino. I have read past reviews that talk negatively about the casino and its proximity to the hotel, but it is completely separate from the hotel. It is just a short walk through the casino to get to the hotel. Don't let this sway your decision. Get on the elevator to the hotel and you are transported to a well-appointed, highly rated hotel away from the casino. The front desk staff is extremely helpful in making the best of your stay and they are ready to give any recommendations you might ask for. The rooms are well-appointed and quite clean. One of the greatest amenities of the hotel is parking. You are steps from downtown Deadwood and you will always have a great parking spot at the hotel. For those that day trip into town will find that parking in Deadwood can be difficult. I recommend you book well in advance and request one of the top floor suites for a balcony view of the town. I called the hotel directly and they were able to get me a great rate. When you plan your Black Hills vacation, realize that many of the destinations are a bit of a drive, no matter where you stay. Treat yourself to the Deadwood Mountain Grand when you return from your day of exploring! You'll be glad you did. For any return trip to the Black Hills, I'll be staying here!

We had an enjoyable stay. Room was clean and all the workers were taking COVID precautions. The pool was open but required a reserved time which kind of worked out nice since it limits the amount of people allowed in. You have to walk through the casino in order to get to the hotel lobby which wasn’t a big deal as it was easy to find. We would stay here again.

Nice rooms but it is a confusing layout to get to the hotel. You walk in the doors and you are in the casino. Had to ask an employee how to get to the hotel. Go through the casino, take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Be ready to do lots of walking to get to your room. However, the location itself is great, walking distance to downtown Deadwood.
The Six String restaurant in the building was short on help so they made us wait 15 minutes even though tables were open. The menu they gave us was completely different from the one online and we ended up leaving because our kids wouldn't like anything on it and it was pricey! The other restaurant, Santanas, had only 1 employee working so we didn't eat there either.

I was in Spearfish for business but decided to stay at the Holiday Inn in Deadwood because I had heard many things as about it as a concert venue. The hotel room I got was fantastic. A suite with an electric fireplace. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Furniture was in great condition. The room could have used a few more outlets for charging electronics. The hot tub was cold. The pool was freezing. The resort fee they charge is ridiculous. I got nothing for it that I dont get at every other Holiday Inn.

By the way, I took a look at the concert venue and decided against buying tickets. There is no raised or stadium seating. Only floor, so unless you are fortunate to get the first few rows, your vision will be blocked.

From the back, you come in on the 2nd floor, take elevator to 1st floor to desk. Front door is on street level, and back is also just parking area is better accessible.
