Lord Woodwose^WP (ウッドワス, Uddowasu^?) is a Fang Clan fairy acting as Head of the Fang Clan and Lord of Oxford in the British Lostbelt in Fate/Grand Order.

Profile

Background

Woodwose is the successor to Wryneck and has been fiercely devoted and loyal to Morgan for centuries. He defeated the King of Moss 1000 years ago.

Woodwose is the leader of the Fang Clan and of Oxford. He also runs a major restaurant franchise, and used to be a soldier on the front lines. He razed Tintagel to the ground in a failed effort to capture the Child of Prophecy.

Personality

Woodwose is incredibly loyal to Morgan. Woodwose is violent and short-tempered, but he tries to keep himself composed as he wishes to wed Morgan and become King of Britain. For this reason he hates Beryl Gut, who has swept in and become Morgan's husband. He has a crush on Aurora, which Oberon exploits by having her invite Woodwose out to a private dinner right before his Round Table Army attacks Norwich so that Woodwose can't send reinforcements. Fairy Knight Tristan later snarks that while Norwich was under attack, he was busy getting shot down by Aurora.

Despite Woodwose’s short temper and violent tendacies, he acknowledges Morgan’s advice that the Fang Clan should evolve and learn to be more composed instead of behaving like savages, which would ultimately be the cause of their end, hence Woodwose opens up a great deal of restaurant chains in Oxford as he tries to civilise his clan to change their ways.

Woodwose is ordered by Morgan to attack the Round Table Army’s city of Londinium immediately after Artoria Caster rings the Pilgrim’s Bell in Norwich.

Woodwose moves his forces towards Londinium to initiate an all-out assault while expecting Percival to be too late or exhausted by the time he reaches Woodwose, as Percival would encounter and be stopped by the reinforcements sent by Morgan.

However, Percival arrives on time and unscathed to Woodwose’s surprise, as Percival’s forces did not encounter anyone on their way, which leads to Percival assuming Woodwose attempted to bring down Londinium before his forces arrived. As Woodwose prepared to get serious, Gareth saw a vision where Woodwose was able to shield himself against Percival’s attack, resulting in him killing everyone. Thus she charged while mounting Redra Bbit in order to create an opening for Percival to utilise his Spear of Selection’s attack to reach Woodwose and weaken him.

After Woodwose is defeated, he attempts to escape while Percival gave chase.Cornered by Percival, Woodwose questioned if Percival would really kill him after he had taken him in and raised him, while Percival replied that he already knew that and apologizes for doing so, claiming that he would still kill him for the sake of Britain and delivered the finishing blow to Woodwose.

After a while, Woodwose stood up again while holding his pierced chest, unable to stop it from bleeding while claiming he couldn’t die there. He thought of asking Aurora to hide him until his wounds recovered, but upon recalling that Gareth had been riding Red Rabbit, he concluded that Aurora had betrayed Morgan while also attempting to deny this conclusion.

Beryl Gut then appears and mocks Woodwose for his cowardice and failure, claiming that it made Morgan give up on him. Beryl then claimed that the lack of any reinforcements were proof that Morgan had deceived and abandoned Woodwose. And while Woodwose was grieving over that fact, Fairy Knight Tristan then appears and through Beryl’s order, she uses a spell to kill Woodwose and obtain a part of his body, while commenting that using the spell gave her a bad feeling. Tristan then hands over the body part to Beryl, who states that witches from Proper Human History had the ability to transform into others, albeit with conditions. And a way of overcoming these conditions is through obtaining certain parts of the target’s body.

During Chaldea and the Child of Prophecy’s attack on Camelot, as Morgan is about to finish off the protagonist and their allies, she fades away.

Amidst the chaos in the throne room where Morgan’s true body resided, Woodwose enters and begins to berate and curse Morgan for her supposed betrayal of him and the Fang Clan, for leaving them dead against Percival’s forces without any reinforcements, a lie told to Woodwose by Aurora in order to turn Woodwose against Morgan. Whereas the truth was that Morgan’s reinforcements were wiped out by Koyanskaya per the request of Oberon through an agreement between the two.

Woodwose lunges at Morgan, whom does not move to defend herself or attack, only to be struck by a mortal blow from the former, Morgan scolds Woodwose for behaving so barbarically, wasting all his efforts of attempting to be more civilised, and instead of attacking him, Morgan gently carasses Woodwose’s face. At this moment, Woodwose realised the truth of the situation, Aurora had lied to him and led him to believe he was betrayed, and he had killed his own queen in the process, tears form around Woodwose’s eyes as he realises what he had done.

In the end, instead of violently assaulting anyone he perceived after transforming into a Moss, Woodwose gently fades away into the wind, due to the great amount of sorrow and guilt he holds over his actions against his queen.

Abilities

Woodwose is a Returned A-Rei (亜鈴返り, Arei kaeri^?), a being equivalent to a Divided Spirit of the Earth's Soul and comparable to personified nature gods in scope. Due to this, his power is that of a king that embodies the beauty of the wild itself. He was born as the successor of Wryneck, the previous head of the Fang Clan. However, Wryneck's Saint Graph was nowhere near as powerful as Woodwose's. In fact, Aurora claims that Woodwose is the closest to the Primordial Fairies among everyone in the Six Clans. Boggart claims that he and Woodwose were the strongest of all the Fang clan. Although the two of them alone saved Fairy Britain from the Moss countless times, it was Woodwose who eventually defeated the King of the Moss, the Great Calamity, putting an end to the Moss Campaign that lasted hundreds of years. It was those accomplishments that led to Woodwose being named lord of Oxford.

Woodwose is not only one of Morgan's most valued soldiers, but her most powerful guard and an opponent more troublesome than the Fairy Knight, according to Cnoc na Riabh. Woodwose also claims to be the strongest warrior in all of Fairy Britain. Furthermore, Spriggan believes that Woodwose is the only person capable of defeating Morgan, and he conspired alongside Aurora to have him kill her. Morgan stated that Woodwose didn't need help from the Fairy Knight in Londinium, and believed that Portunes had gone mad for suggesting otherwise. She also claims that no mere Human is capable of beating him.

With the exception of Morgan, Cnoc na Riabh, and Spriggan, most Fairies ignore Woodwose's true strength and believe that he is out of shape due to being over a thousand years old. For example, Fairy Knight Gawain claims that Lancelot is not just the strongest Fairy Knight, but the strongest creature in the Fairy Kingdom. Fairy Knight Tristan also believes that her and the other Fairy Knight are stronger than Woodwose ever was. Oberon also claims that Woodwose doesn't have the same power he once did. Now that the Fairy Knight are the queen's most valued fighters, he's settled down into just being an old Fairy who wields his Authority like a club. He says that Artoria Caster, Senji Muramasa, and Gareth are all stronger than him.

Combat

Just like his predecessor Wryneck, Woodwose has inherited the Lungs of the Planet (星の肺, Hoshi no hai^?), also called the Organs of the Exhaust Heat of the Planet (星の排熱器官, Hoshi no Hainetsu Kikan^?), an Authority from one of the Sub-Bells of the Beginning that deals with the waste heat of the planet, making him the Archduke of Exhaust Heat. Thanks to this ability, not even Percival's Lost Longinus can normally scratch his skin. Fairy Knight Galahad and Artoria Caster powered by 4 Bells of Pilgrimage don't have any weapons capable of penetrating Woodwose's hide either. Although iron weapons can't harm him under normal circumstances, Gareth, the next generation of Ainsel, was able to injure him with a surprise attack, granting Percival the opportunity to mortally wound him with the Spear of Selection. The bleeding caused by that wound didn't stop until he died. Scandinavia Peperoncino was also capable of bypassing this Authority by combining the Moss and Retaliating Curses.

He can easily overpower a team formed by Lostbelt Percival, Senji Muramasa, Artoria Caster powered by 2 bells, Da Vinci, and Ritsuka Fujimaru, to the point they are almost completely drained of energy and can't move. Furthermore, a single blow from Woodwose is powerful enough to blow up the entire torso of either of them. However, thanks to Gareth's surprise attack, and Lost Longinus, Woodwose is weakened enough so that he can be defeated by them. According to Fairy Knight Lancelot, Woodwose was defeated because he wasn't strong enough. He took Morgan's faith in him at face value, to a fault. He was also overconfident in his power as an A-Rei and didn't take Humans more seriously. Muryan never believed that he would die in battle against Humans.

Even while mortally wounded, Woodwose was able to knock Morgan to the floor, although she could have dodged it if she wanted to.

Other Capabilities

• Woodwose is obsessed with good manners and etiquette. Due to this, the position of the Head of the Fang Clan was decided in a manner-battle. Winky claims that the only reason he defeated Boggart in the Magical Energy battle is because his wife betrayed him.
