Dean Wareham - About

Bio

Dean Wareham was born in Wellington, NZ, but moved to NYC at age 14. He formed the bands GALAXIE 500 (in 1987) and LUNA (in 1991). After Luna played their "final shows" in 2005, Wareham released three albums as DEAN & BRITTA with Luna bandmate (now wife) Britta Phillips.  The pair also score films, most notably Noah Baumbach's  THE SQUID & THE WHALE and MISTRESS AMERICA, and Andy Warhol's SCREEN TESTS. Wareham's memoir, BLACK POSTCARDS was published by Penguin press in 2006. In 2013, Dean released his first solo record, EMANCIPATED HEARTS,  an extended EP produced by Jason Quever of the band, Papercuts. A self-titled full-length album produced by Jim James of My Morning Jacket followed in 2014. Luna reformed and began touring again in 2015. Last year, they released A Sentimental Education, an album of covers,  and  A Place of Greater Safety, an EP of 6 instrumentals.
