Art & Design High School Reviews
Rating 3.78 out of 5 409 reviews
As a current Junior attending The High School of Art and Design I find myself commonly feeling stressed at this school and I commonly feel overworked, and there are some teachers that aren’t the nicest. There have been times I felt like giving up due to feeling like some staff didn’t care. The arts at this school is beyond exceptional. The school safety guards are not the nicest and can sometimes be rude or disrespectful. I believe that certain school administrators are very kind on the other hand there are other school administrators that are disrespectful and disregard your opinion when something happens. Bullying has been an issue recently at this school and I have watched at the school administration let off the students with a slap on the wrist. Common things that also take place at this school is smoking, vaping, vandalism, and more. Most students at this school are friendly and caring. If your looking for a school that’s good for their arts this is the school.
Starting high school right after the pandemic, the transition from online learning back into in person was an adjustment for both students and teachers. Despite this, in my experience, the teachers were generous, understanding and patient and did not try to force us to revert back to how we used to act and learn pre-pandemic, but instead encouraged new learning methods and encouraged students to improve. The community at Art and Design is one where a student can be themselves and not be shamed for it. It's a community I'm proud to be a part of. Of course, not every single person on this planet is kind, and that goes for students and teachers. However, the majority is who I've been lucky to meet and be taught by.
Art & Design has amazing staff and student diversity. This school allowed me to explore my creative side and learning more about my potential in the art industry. Art and Design also has a strong sense if community and are very involved. However some things I'd like to see change is the orginization of things sometimes the teachers and school don't always have things planned out to well. It can leave students confused and anxious at times.
