- Not sure where the previous reviewers got the clear highs. I never imagined I'd ever encounter a new LP or 12", freshly taken out of the shrink wrap, that would sound this awful. The highs are very splattery and sibilant without much definition, especially on Side A. Many pops as well, especially at the beginning of each side, even though I've cleaned the record thoroughly. I've even worried that my cart/stylus might be at fault, even though it was replaced a few months ago. Testing with another known good LP confirmed my setup is not at fault.
I suspect it might be a mastering issue. Hope I can get my hands on the original to tell if it has the same issue or not.
DR is at 12, which is decent for a 12". - Edited one year agoThis pressing sounds indeed fantastic! On this 12" are the 1982 originals with Keep The Fire Burning in the great Club Re-Mix.
- Edited 2 years agothis pressing sounds excellent, highs are clear, no background noise, bass are strong, the "bass" especially
