I am a music student looking to earn my bachelor’s degree. Though I am not a very social or extroverted person unless prompted by my peers, I find that the school of music provides me with a scene I’ve always desired throughout my education: a community. I do not feel like merely a number, which I always had in other schools I’ve been to. I always feel valued and lifted up by my peers, and there is no shortage of friendliness expressed by my classmates and professors, even those I may not see or associate with as often.
There are plenty of activities circulating around campus every week, and the activities office ensures there is something for everyone. I live off-campus and don’t have much to say about on-campus life, but when I am there I always feel welcome and safe.

I opted to stay on campus while attending Cameron University. The dorm life has been incredibly helpful and rewarding. Being on campus has allowed me the opportunity to meet new people, be included in numerous activities, and truly enjoy all the campus has to offer. Being a semi-local student, one would assume that going to a local university is not one's first choice. Cameron University was not only my first choice, it was the only school I applied to. The "at home" atmosphere, the welcoming faculty, and the overall positive environment the school offered was what sold me on the choice to attend. My mom is alumni of Cameron University and shared the same sentiment as I do. Watching her attend and graduate was a huge contributing factor to my overall choice. She spoke highly about the professors, their attentiveness to the students, and their willingness to help in any aspect of her educational goals. Cameron has proven that my choice was the correct one and for that I am so grateful.
I generally enjoy going to Cameron University. I take about half of my classes online currently, and the majority of professors do their best to ensure that communication goes smoothly in online formatting. As for in- person classes, professors are generally understanding of circumstances that may interfere with class attendance and completion. They do their best to work with you, as long as it is not a clear violation of the policy in their syllabi. Some of the parking lots could use redone, and some facilities are nicer than others.
