The body of a 65-year-old man has been recovered after a boat was found crashed against the rocks at Little Misery Island off Salem on Saturday, according to local reports.
The boat was found after 5 p.m. Saturday and the search for victims was first reported by 7 News WHDH.
The man’s body was found after 10:30 p.m. Saturday after a search that involved the U.S. Coast Guard and multiple harbormasters, The Boston Globe reported.
A spokesperson for the Essex District Attorney’s Office told the Globe that no foul play was suspected, but the investigation remains ongoing.
The man’s identity has not been released pending confirmation of his next of kin, according to the Globe.
The wreckage was still being cleared on Sunday night, TowBoatUS told the Globe.
TowBoatUS, the Essex District Attorney’s Office, and U.S. Coast Guard did not immediately respond to requests for information Sunday night.
It’s unknown why the boat crashed.
