Really enjoyable place, we've been there loads of times with the family, always clean and staff are helpful. I would recommend it for a good day out with lots to do

Several music bars and restaurant on the seashore, with beautiful view of the harbour. My favourite spot is Titanic, for the quality of the food and the comfortable seats and tables but also the others are no less. Easy to reach from Accra, you can take any tro-tro to Tema.

Went there on Sunday to enjoy their live band session. Really really cool. It really brought back old memories that made it memorable.

I have been to A1 a few times and have always loved it. I however think the race track is a bit short but anyways you can pay and go for more laps. I would like to suggest that they look at the smoothness of the track especially as one goes over the overpass, its quite rough and tends to shake quite vigorously. Ideally, it should be quite smooth throughout to allow for a better experience.

We struggled to find the place as it is new and not properly referenced. In google map, enter those coordinates: 5°44'00.2"N 0°02'21.9"E
Cost is 5GHS per person (children or adult).

    The Live band was great.
The place is spacious with different ambient options. There are also pool tables.
    Prices are reasonable.

I undertook an 18-day tour through Adventure Birding Tours with a birding friend led by Kwame Brown, his assistant Abu and in part Kwame N in Ghana during November 2023. Prior to booking and subsequently taking part in the tour I had forwarded a list of the target birds that I needed along with those of my friend. Kwame reviewed the list, provided an itinerary that would enable us to see as many of our targets as possible for the duration of our proposed trip. His suggested itinerary, duration and price were all very acceptable and frankly neither of us were disappointed with the tour.

I found Kwame an excellent birder, a friendly sociable guide and great company throughout the tour, to be fair as was Abu and Kwame N. However, IF Kwame has a failing it is his clear passion for birding, his unrelenting striving continually to get the target bird and thus distracting himself from the time, weather, mosquitos, flies, snakes etc. I am not criticising Kwame for this, it is an admirable obsession for the tour leader to have and after all, what we, the client is paying for. However, that said, he has taken on board a comment I made that as softies from further North in the hemisphere acclimatising to the heat, humidity etc. took a while for us (the clients) and therefore the accuracy of being out in the field was a little more critical i.e. the water provision requirement, weather condition preparedness etc. I know that birding in the field is dynamic and thus I was not looking for exact timings, but slightly better accuracy would have saved being a little thirsty or wet!

However, the bottom line, if I were undertaking another West African tour in his area would I call upon him to lead the tour? Answer, absolutely I would, no reservation whatsoever. He is an excellent guide and for myself having birded in Central & South America, North & East Africa, Asia, East Asia, and Australasia I have enough experience of guides to know a good one from a bad one and Kwame is in my opinion an excellent one. And as for the cost of the tour …… definitely value for money.

Now to review my bird lists for West Africa and see if I can justify another visit!

I hope anyone reading this review finds it useful however I am more than happy for Kwame to pass on my email to any prospective clients if they want further information.

Well done Kwame and thank you for a very enjoyable and successful tour.

    18 Day Tour November 2023.
Principal areas visited: Kakum Park, Abrafo Forest, Opuro Forest, Mole Forest, Bobiri Forest, Atewa Forest.
Total birds seen by me on the trip = 376
Lifers seen by me on the trip = 176
For my specific trip needs this represents quality not quantity.
    Happy birding.
