It seems there is a disconnected wire that activates the soft close mechanism for the driver's door. I can't get my hand in there. Will the dealer fix this?

Is this in the boot? The trim is pretty easy to remove but I would imagine the dealer should fix it, but my thoughts would be only if they can be convinced this is for the drivers soft close….
As yours is still under warranty then the soft close not working should be covered?

Seems odd that there is a wire with a disconnected connector that controls the soft-close mechanism for just one door.
How do you know that's what it is?
But if you want those two wires connected, surely a pair of long-nose pliers would do the job.

"If I remember correctly, the driver's door soft-close is disabled at the factory, and the main dealer is supposed to enable it as part of the PDI. But it has been known for main dealers to forget to carry out a proper PDI and for cars to be delivered without the soft-close enabled. Some door-slammers will be completely oblivious to this for years. From what I understand, it is a simple matter of plugging in the connector, but I have no idea where this connector is. But I would assume it is readily accessible. "

I had a 2015 XJ from new, complete with soft-close on all the doors. A couple of years later, a neighbour of mine bought bought a 2015 XJ and told me that it didn't have soft-close. I checked, and it worked on all the doors on his car except the driver's. Once again, the main dealer hadn't carried out the PDI correctly, and presumably the first owner never realised. I understand it was a simple fix. (Please accept Brit spelling!)

You were doing well to get a 2025 XJ. ;)

Yes - they broke it. On "the US forum" there is a description of exactly this problem, why it arises, and how to fix it.
