PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Well, well....if this game is any indication of things to come, we are set for an absolute ride for the next couple of weeks. Both teams had their fair share of ebbs and flows and in the end, India managed to clinch the heart-stopper. The next one is just a night's sleep away. Sunday. Same place, same time. Do remember to tune in for that. Until next time, this is Raju Peethala bidding goodbye on behalf of Kumar Abhisekh Das and our scoring whizz Mukesh. Cheerio!!
Shikhar Dhawan | Player of the Match and Indian skipper: Disappointed not to get the 100, but it was a good effort by the team. We good a good score in the end. There were nerves in the end and didn't expect it to turn that way. We kept our cool and one small change in the end where we pushed the fine leg back and that really helped us. The discussion was to use the bigger side as much as we can and we want to keep on learning and make ourselves better for the rest of the competition.
Nicholas Pooran | West Indies skipper: Feels like a win for us. Bittersweet, but yeah we keep talking about batting 50 overs and everyone saw what we are capable of and hopefully we can go strength to strength from here. Looking forward to the rest of the series. It was a good batting track and our bowlers did a commendable job to restrict them. It's difficult to lose but we will take this one. We need to believe in each other and I keep telling everyone that we will have our challenges, but important to focus on the positives.
17:46 Local Time, 21:46 GMT, 03:16 IST: No Super Over, but there's no shortage of entertainment here in Trinidad as we draw curtains on this thrill-a-minute encounter where West Indies finished second despite scoring 50/0 off the last 5 overs. They would, however, be pleased with the fact of batting full quota of overs. They have had a shoddy record on that front since the 2019 World Cup and given the slow-burners in Guyana where they lost 3-0 to Bangladesh, this will feel like a welcome change. One that should lift their spirits for the rest of the series. As for India, Shardul Thakur removed both set batters around the halfway mark which threatened to take the game away from the hosts. Contributions from Pooran, King, Akeal Hosein and Shepherd proved almost enough and despite some slice of luck, the home team couldn't quite get past the finish line. India's spinners were impressive but lacked a bit of consistency in lines. Overall a good game of cricket. Stay tuned for the presentations....

Siraj to Shepherd, byes, 1 run, no luck, no inside edge. It's a full delivery angled into the batter and Shepherd couldn't quite get under it, looks to slog and ends up getting nutmegged through to the keeper. A slight fumble by Samson but he gathers himself quite rapidly to keep it down to a single. India seal this thriller of a contest by 3 runs and go 1-0 up in the series
A boundary will take us to the Super Over. Are you ready?
49.5
Siraj to Shepherd, 2 runs, gets the full delivery in the blockhole and Shepherd thrashes it towards long-off. Runs, runs, and runs as if his life is dependent on it...they complete the two quite comfortably in the end
Just 7 needed now
49.5
Siraj to Shepherd, wide, this is sheer panic from Mohammed Siraj and India. Shepherd has been shuffling down leg and Siraj continues to follow his pads, he over-corrects and sprays this well down leg. If not for Samson diving full-length to his left and half-stopping, it would've run away for four more. Terrific effort from Samson and Hosein does not want the extra run. So it's up to Shepherd to don the role of the finisher
49.4
Siraj to Shepherd, 2 runs, full and swerving in late, Shepherd manages the umpteenth inside edge that rolls down to fine leg. Prasidh seemed to be a touch slow to pick it up and they complete two with ease...
49.3
4
Siraj to Shepherd, FOUR, third inside edge and third boundary for Romario Shepherd! All three against Mohammed Siraj. Full and a hint of reverse on the pads, Shepherd swings wildly and manages a huge chunk of inside edge that races away to the backward square fence
49.2
Siraj to Akeal Hosein, leg byes, 1 run, attempts to use the pace and scoop a full delivery outside off, the ball dips late and catches the inside edge before rolling wide of point
49.1
Siraj to Akeal Hosein, no run, full and angling away wide of off, Hosein looks to belt it through covers and fails to get any bat on that
Just, I daresay, 3 hits away now, but it will be Akeal Hosein on strike remember...

Prasidh to Shepherd, FOUR, the decibels go up Trinidad... Shepherd throws the kitchen sink at a full and wide delivery and manages to slice it off the outer edge over short third. There's no-one in the deep and that boundary will make matters a touch easy for the home team
Big ball coming up....
48.5
Prasidh to Akeal Hosein, 1 run, Prasidh nails the yorker and Hosein could only squeeze it square on the leg-side
West Indies need to hit one six off the next two balls...can they? Will they?
48.4
Prasidh to Shepherd, 1 run, stays low and heaves the full delivery to the left of long-on
48.3
Prasidh to Shepherd, no run, slower ball dragged well wide of off, Shepherd swings and misses
