A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be Thursday, January 12th, 2023 at 11 A.M. at Northminister Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. The Reverend Doctor Ralph Hawkins will officiate. Burial will be private.
Ricky, the son of the late Raymond C. Smith, Sr., and Ruth Davis Smith, was born in Macon, Georgia on August 9, 1948. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lindy Waddell. Ricky graduated from Lanier High School in 1966, earned a degree in business management from Georgia Southern University and was a Georgia Banking School graduate. Ricky spent 45 years in banking and retired in 2015. An active member of Northminister Presbyterian Church, he was a member of Session, chairman of the Finance Committee, member of the Personnel Committee and served in various leadership roles. He was a past secretary-treasurer of the Macon Lion's Club. He was a member of the Board of Trustees for Thornwell Home for Children (Clinton, SC).
Ricky was a true southern gentleman. He was a man of integrity and loved people, especially his family. He never met a stranger and was fiercely loyal to his friends. Survivors include his wife, Suzann; his sons; Clay Waddell (Ansley), Bart Smith (Elizabeth); his sister, Susan Smith Jones (Girard); his granddaughters; Hannah Waddell and Hayes Waddell; and several nieces and nephews.

What a wonderful friend and colleague Ricky was. When I came to Macon, he was one of the first to welcome me and I always respected and valued his judgment.

We spent many happy days at Security Bank and State Bank. I will miss him very much.

Susan and family, Ricky was a few years ahead of me at Georgia Southern and ATO but I knew him and he knew me. Anytime we were at a reunion or other event when he saw me he never failed to come up and say "hi Boots." As is said in his obituary he truly was a southern gentleman and a man of integrity. I know all of the older brothers who knew Ricky will miss seeing him. He was and is loved. ATO Brother Tim "boots-on" Butzon
