A lot of female rappers I see are popular because they have the whole “girly pop persona” and arent particularly good rappers or lyricists. What are some female rappers that are good because of actual skill?

Rapsody for sure. She’s better than most rappers regardless of gender. There’s a reason 9th wonder has devoted a ton of energy to her/their art.

Nobody was "mad at her" hahaha. Kanye pushed everyone to put out their absolute best (see Rick Ross on DIAND as well), and Jay Z shouldn't have written such an awful verse if he didn't want to get outrapped, so I doubt he's mad either

I’m mostly into rock so I’m not a great judge but her verse on Nobody by Nas is one of the best rap verses I’ve ever heard. If it weren’t for her unfortunate personality issues she’d be one of the biggest music stars of all time

Some people see hip hop as a competition instead of an art form. So it always turns into putting artists against one another or comparing them. It's an aspect of hip hop culture that I personally have never been into

When I was working night audit at a hostel in Portland, I shot the shit with a guest while mopping the breakfast area. It was maybe 2 AM, and I was blasting cupcakke for the 20 minutes it took to mop everything down. The guest was an older white dude, he was vibing pretty well to Ms. Cakke. Such is her power.

She has great flows and interesting lyrics, people just mad that she raps about sex too. Honestly though she's great at it. I like Lil Simz, Snow, Lauryn Hill, but Megan is my favorite lady to listen too.

You can always tell who only listens to her mainstream songs. Her range of topics and flow switches are impeccable, and her freestyles are some of the best to come out in recent years.
