City Projects

Week of May 20, 2024

Greenfield, Porter to Chicago Dr – 2024 Watermain Replacement (Wyoming Excavating)

The Contractor has completed the short side water services and is beginning to construct the long side services crossing the street.  Construction of the long side services will continue through next week.  Once all services are complete, the old watermain will be disconnected.  The contractor is grading and forming for the sidewalk replacement and plans to pour on Wednesday.

Hook Avenue Construction (Diversco Construction)

The contractor continues to work on the sanitary sewer working from 28th Street to the north.   Work on the sanitary will continue through the week into next week.

2024 Federal Resurfacing Project – Gezon Parkway/54th St Resurfacing (Rieth Riley)

The Contractor is working on curb removals in the east bound curb lane from Byron Center to Clyde Park.  Some of the new curb is scheduled to be poured on Monday and throughout the week.  The area near Target is being widened to add a center left turn lane.  The contractor will continue construction of utility relocations and extension for the new street width in this area. 

Site Developments

Wyoming Junior High School

The contractor is working primarily on building construction and site work.  Work does not affect traffic.

Union Suites (NE corner of 36th Street and Michael Avenue)

Work in the Michael Avenue right of way is complete and the street has been reopened to traffic.  Work inside the site will continue but will not affect traffic.

MDOT CONSTRUCTION

US-131 - Plaster Creek Bridge

Construction on southbound US-131 should be wrapping up this week.  The freeway is completely closed at Burton Street for bridge repairs to the Plaster Creek structure between Burton St and 28th St.  Concrete repairs are ongoing between Pearl St and 28th Street.  Traffic is reduced to one lane of traffic from Pearl to Burton for the repairs.    Detailed question or information should be directed to MDOT Transportation Service Center (TSC).  Northbound US-131 will remain open during the second phase.

PLATS

Courtney Lynn Court (South side of 56th Street between Wilson Ave and Ivanrest Ave)

The contractor is working on the road construction in the new plat grading and placing aggregate base.    Concrete curb and gutter and paving will be scheduled after finishing the aggregate base.

The Retreat (NE Corner of 52nd Street and Byron Center Ave)

Contractor has completed the public utilities.  The construction of the drive entrance on 52nd Street has not been scheduled at this time.  When started, the work will require a lane shift along west bound 52nd Street, east of Byron Center Ave.    

Kingsfield Estates (North side of 56th Street between Wilson Ave and Canal Ave)

Contractor has completed paving last week.  Bike path patches where utilities were connected need to be paved but have not been scheduled at this time. 

GRAND RAPIDS CONSTRUCTION (adjacent to Wyoming City limits)

Ceazar Chavez, Clyde Park Ave to Hall Street

The contractor is working on the reconstruction of Ceasar Chavez from Clyde Park Ave to Liberty (south of Hall St).  Traffic is detoured around the project.  Hall Street intersection will remain open for the first phase of the project.
