If you need recommendations for anime like Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, this ranked list has you covered! Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid took the world by storm with a strange plot that no one would have ever thought of; dragons cosplaying as adorable maids and living in the real world. After helping to save an ancient dragon, Kobayashi is surprised to see that it wants to continue living with her. Transforming into an adorable young woman in a maid outfit, Tooru is determined to serve Kobayashi however she can as a thank you for all her help. Of course, nothing about this seems remotely normal to Kobayashi and she really just wants to get to work. The series follows their seemingly normal everyday life as they deal with very abnormal circumstances.

This show is incredibly funny and has a lot to offer, but if you’ve already seen it, you’re probably looking for anime similar to Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. There are plenty of humorous series out there that have to deal with the unordinary living in a regular world, like Dragon Crisis! or The Devil is a Part-Timer! that would be a perfect follow up considering their mutual themes. Vote up the anime recommendations like Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid you'd most want other fans to check out.

  • Tooru never really seems to get it when it comes to living among humans. Of course, that's to be expected when you're not really from around here. Thankfully, she and Demon Lord Satan would have a lot to talk about if it came down to their shared experiences in the human world. When Satan and his loyal general, Alsiel, are forced to retreat to another world, they end up on Earth with no magic. To make things worse, they're not exactly sure how to get back home. In order to survive while they try to find a way home, Satan takes on the human guise of Sadao Maou and begins working at a fast food restaurant known as MgRonald's. The humor in this series is non-stop and the kind of shenanigans Sadao seems to always be getting into is very much like the kind Tooru finds herself in all the time. It's more than worthy to be on your watchlist!

Maika Sakuranomiya is struggling to find a part-time job because of the way her eyes look; she always seems to have a nasty look whenever she smiles that frightens off any potential employers. However, there may be a solution when an Italian man, the owner of the cafe Stile, offers her a job. Rather than continuously trying to change the way she looks, she can use this glare to help out the cafe. Here at Stile, every waitress has a special trait, such a tsundere or little sister, to appeal to the customers. Despite her personality, Maika's look is perfect for the "sadistic" role. While this series isn't about dragons or anything too out of the ordinary, the humor in this and the style of characters is very much the same to what we see in Miss Kobayashi's

  • At first glance, you may be wondering how this made it onto the list. However, Himouto! Umaru-chan is very much a story about living with an unconventional girl that seems to have a lot going on at all times. While nothing mystical is going on in the background, Umaru certainly has a secret that no one would be able to guess by looking at her. Outside her home, she's absolutely perfect; beautiful, smart, athletic and the best at almost everything. But when she's at home, her entire personality crumbles and she turns into a lazy otaku who wants to do nothing more than play games and drink cola. Living with her older brother, this certainly becomes a pain.

  • Enjoying the idea of a supernatural being staying in the real world, trying to live a regular life? Gabriel DropOut is definitely the next thing that needs to be on your list. As part of their training to become full-fledged angels, Gabriel White Tenma has been sent to Earth to live among humans. While she once believed that she would be a source of great happiness for them, her time on Earth has left her with a horrible video game addiction and the self-proclaimed title, "Fallen Angel." The leading character is very much like Tooru, especially in the way she'd rather live in the human world versus her own.

While not a fantasy in nature, Nichijou - My Ordinary Life is certainly a comedy that has the random humor any Kobayashi fan would love!  Mio Naganohara, Yuuko Aioi, and Mai Minakami are your regular high school girls who seem to always be getting into antics. However, as the series goes on, they'll soon meet the genius Hakase Shinonome and her strange family life consisting of a robot and a cat. While there are many things you'd consider "ordinary", many of the random events that happen in this show are not. The humor used is often very similar to Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid and certainly makes it worth the watch.

  • In a large village where spirits dwell, a young fox girl named Yuzu has just gotten a very honorable opportunity to work at the traditional hot springs in, Konohanatei. As such a young spirit with no real work experience, Yuzu is put right to work and struggles to learn the basics. However, her interactions with the various visitors that come into the inn seem to help her grow as the series goes along. While this story is certainly more about a world beyond our own, there are various humans who travel through it and get to experience the hospitality that only Konohanatei can provide. While there are plenty of humorous moments that would certainly rival Miss Kobayashi's, what will really get you is the heartwarming moments you weren't expecting.

Yoshifumi Nitta already seemed like an out-of-the-ordinary guy, considering his status as a yakuza member, but things become even more strange when Hina enters his life. After being hit in the head by a random capsule, he opens it to find a young girl inside who tells him nothing about her. Hina only tells him that she is incredibly powerful and, if she loses control or her powers remain unused, she could cause an explosion. Now her caregiver, Yoshifumi is about to find out how difficult it is to have a supernatural child in the house. While the premise is certainly different from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, the premise about a human being thrown into insane circumstances is very much the same.

  • Ika Musume is sick of the way humans have treated her ocean; it's time to punish them, and no mercy will be given! While you would think that the sea would bring a giant champion to the surface in order to threaten humanity, the best we can see is a little squid girl who hates all humans but can do little to nothing about it. While she may find herself invincible with her various skills, nothing would have gotten her ready for the Aizawa sisters, Eiko and Chizuru, who corner her into working at their seafood restaurant. Much like Miss Kobayashi's, Ika must learn how to live among humans and learn to deal with the hateful feelings she has for them. Much like Tooru, can time change the way she feels?

  • Kaoru is a hard worker at the office who seems to be your typical young woman. She does her part at the office, spends time with her friends and is married to a loving husband. Although, that last part may actually be where things get a little weird. While Kaoru seems to have more mainstream interests, her husband, Hajime, is a total otaku. With no real context as to the references he makes or his excitement over his hobbies, Kaoru tries her best to understand what her husband is talking about. This anime is incredibly humorous in its relationship aspect, much like Miss Kobayashi's, but it also has a surprising amount of heartwarming scenes.

Every witch goes through a period of time where they must live on their own in order to study their craft. For Makoto Kowata, that time has finally come! Moving to Aomori, a place favored by witches, she lives with her second cousins Kei and Chinatsu, in order to begin her journey. Despite seeming like a normal high school girl, her affinity towards magic and need to study witchcraft makes her days rather strange. There's a lot of beauty in this show, but also a lot of random humor that you could certainly compare to Miss Kobayashi's, especially with the idea of living a normal life through not normal means.

  • Mahiro Yasaka's life changes drastically when he's one day attacked by a horrific monster and saved by a silver-haired girl. Nyaruko claims to be Nyarlathotep, a shape-shifting deity that comes from H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Sent by the Space Defense Agency, she's come to Earth in hopes of helping protect it. However, Nyaruko seems to have fallen in love with Mahiro and follows him wherever he goes. Along the way, the meet other characters from the fictional universe as poor Mahiro tries his best to return to a normal life. If this sounds familiar, that's probably because Kobayashi is almost constantly trying to do the same thing, much to Tooru's dismay.

  • Sitting on a corner in a Tokyo shopping district sits a popular restaurant known as Western Restaurant Nekoya. Despite being so loved by locals, there seems to be nothing totally different between Nekoya and other eateries. But on Saturdays, when it's said to be closed, other visitors come in for one of the best meals around. Anything from elves to fairies visits the cafe to eat anything "Master" makes. Aletta is a young member of a devil race who ends up lost one day. When she finds Nekoya, she's offered a job as a waitress and so the story begins. If you're looking for something that has even more strange fantasy creatures involved, this is a perfect followup to Miss Kobayashi's! The different characters that come in to visit are what makes this anime series equally as exciting.

Everyone needs more dragons in their life after all! Another riveting tale like Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Dragon Crisis! is certainly the same in its story of how living with a dragon can change everything. Kisaragi Ryuji's world was thrown into chaos thanks to the return of his second cousin, Eriko. Together, they seize a mysterious box from a black broker that has a strange blonde girl inside. Rose is a young dragon who's still unable to change her form but becomes exceptionally attached to Kisaragi. At risk of being taken back by the black organization, Kisaragi must use his power as a relic handler to protect this dragon no matter what. While the storyline is certainly more serious, it's definitely worth the watch if you'd like to see the different ways a dragon's presence can interfere with the human world.
