This manuscript cookbook, written in several different hands, belonged to Sir Charles Henry Ellice, and is believed to have been used throughout his career and travels as an officer stationed in India for most of his career. Includes a wide variety of recipes, ranging from butter, to bread without yeast, curry, as well as some medical receipts. Pages with recipes are numbered, and a manuscript index is included at the end of the volume
Includes ink drawings on the preliminary leaf of Highland scenes
