Jason Todd was the second Robin who died at the hands of The Joker. He eventually returned to take on the title of the Red Hood. He has had his fair share of romances, which appear in some Jason Todd comics. However, Jason doesn't have as many love interests as his other allies and family members.

Jason is a bit rough around the edges, and it often seems like he is too focused on other tasks for romance. Jason has developed a few love interests and relationships that have left a lasting mark on the character. The romance between Jason Todd and Rose Wilson has intrigued fans, while the flirtation between Supergirl and Red Hood surprised them.

A Guide To Jason Todd, From Robin to Red Hood

Jason Todd started as Batman's second Robin before he became Red Hood but he's never stopped evolving as DC's premier anti-hero.

Since debuting in the Pre-Crisis universe, Jason Todd has changed quite a bit. Todd only briefly operated as Robin while he attended school. Rena was Jason Todd's first sweetheart, and their developing relationship explored drug issues and the darkness of the streets.

Notable Traits/Relationship Moments:

  • Rena and Jason Todd bonded over being the new kids in school
  • They went on their first official date in 1986's Detective Comics #564
  • Rena disappeared from continuity after the Crisis on Infinite Earths

A gang of drug dealers tried to manipulate Rena into getting high. Jason defeated the gang to help Rena out and ended up winning her heart in the process. They only dated for a short time while Todd decided whether to continue being Robin. Their relationship ended after Todd returned to his costumed identity.

9 Talia Al Ghul

First Appearance: Detective Comics (Vol. 1) #411, by writer Dennis O'Neil, penciler Bob Brown, inker Dick Giordano and letterer Ben Oda

Talia al Ghul is probably better known as one of Bruce Wayne's main love interests. Talia is the daughter of Ra's al Ghul and the mother of Bruce's biological son, Damian Wayne. However, Talia also became close with Jason Todd after she brought him back to life.

Notable Traits/Relationship Moments:

  • Talia defied her father to restore Jason with the Lazarus Pit
  • They first shared a kiss in 2006's Batman Annual #25
  • Talia al Ghul gave Todd his first Red Hood costume

Jason spent some time in recovery after his exposure to the Lazarus PIt, and he grew close with Talia al Ghul. They had a brief fling that never developed into a relationship, and Todd soon left to find his own path as Red Hood. It was one of his stranger relationships, as Talia and Bruce Wayne have such a long history together that fans were surprised to see sparks fly with Todd.

8 Donna Troy

First Appearance: The Brave and the Bold (Vol. 1) #60, by writer Bob Haney and penciler/inker Bruno Premiani

Jason Todd and Donna Troy in Countdown to Final Crisis

Though they have a long history as friends, Donna and Jason never actually started a romantic relationship. They first met when Jason Todd briefly joined the Teen Titans as Robin, though they became closer during an adventure across the multiverse in Countdown to Final Crisis.

Notable Traits/Relationship Moments:

  • She was one of the first heroes whom Jason Todd considered a friend
  • Donna and Jason got close in 2007's Countdown to Final Crisis #48
  • They briefly bonded over their shared death and rebirth experiences

Jason was always a bit rough around the edges compared to Donna Troy, the former Wonder Girl. They had a small, flirtatious relationship while together on the Titans. However, Todd's villainous actions as Red Hood kept the pair from moving further in a romantic relationship.

7 Koriand'r/Starfire

First Appearance: DC Comics Presents (Vol. 1) #26, by writer Marv Wolfman, penciler George Pérez, inker Dick Giordano, colorist Adrienne Roy and letterer Ben Oda

The romance between Jason Todd and Starfire wasn't confirmed, but it was heavily implied throughout Red Hood and the Outlaws. In the New 52 continuity, an injured Red Hood washed ashore on an island inhabited by Starfire. She helped nurse him back to health, and the two developed a close friendship and potential romantic relationship.

Notable Traits/Relationship Moments:

  • Their relationship was first implied in 2011's Red Hood and the Outlaws #1
  • Jason and Kori both refused to confirm or discuss their relationship
  • Starfire kissed Jason on more than one occasion to transfer information

Starfire had lost all of her memories and forgot her previous relationship with Dick Grayson/Nightwing. Jason ultimately turned away from a deeper romance with Starfire due to her past and his connection to Nightwing. Red Hood and Starfire might have had a physical relationship, but she soon moved on with their other teammate, Roy Harper/Arsenal.
