Even though the sunny summer months traditionally see fewer new TV shows than the cosy-sofa winter months, warm weather is anything but reliable; what you can count on, though, is What to Watch's streaming expert finding you new TV shows worth watching each week.

For this week's round-up I'm looking at the best new TV shows streaming between Saturday, June 1 and Friday, June 7, and I've scoured through the listings of all the major streaming services to create this overview.

To count for this list, the show must be an original production for a streaming service, or at least be created by a broadcaster and hit streaming right after its TV debut. We list shows that are premiering or dropping in their entirety this week.

If you see something interesting on a streaming service you don't have access to, you can use our lists of the best streaming services and also best streaming deals to decide what to sign up for and how to save money. So let's jump in and find you something to binge or stream this week:

Taylor Sheridan's political crime drama starring Jeremy Renner returns this week when Mayor of Kingstown season 3 debuts.

The show follows Renne as Mike McLusky, the figurehead of the McLusky family which acts as the peacekeepers for a company town called Kingstown. He needs to try his best to keep bloodshed to a minimum in the midst of corruption, gang violence and, in season 3, the emergence of the Russian mob to threaten the peace even further.

The first episode of Mayor of Kingstown season 3 debuts on Paramount Plus on Sunday, June 2 in the US and Canada and a day after elsewhere. New episodes will hit the streamer on a weekly basis.

While renaissance fairs certainly aren't for everybody, Ren Faire certainly could be, because under the surface this documentary tells of a tense power struggle in Texas.

Ren Faire follows the retirement of the owner of the largest renaissance festival in the US, as various members of his entourage and the larger renaissance fair community vie to take his place. His empire is up for grabs, metaphorically and literally.

You'll be able to watch Ren Faire on Max, with all three episodes debuting on Sunday, June 2. There's no word on a release outside the US just yet.

There are quite a few Star Wars spin-off shows on Disney Plus nowadays, but The Acolyte is a prequel which promises to make sense whether you've watched every second of space action from the franchise, or this is your first dip into the adventure.

The Acolyte takes place before any of the movies or shows, when the Jedi Order rules the galaxy. When a mysterious figure begins killing members of the order, a Jedi Master and his allies must figure out what's going on before it's too late.

The first two episodes of The Acolyte hit Disney Plus around the world on Tuesday, June 4, and subsequent episodes will arrive weekly from then onwards.

Clipped

  • Hulu / Disney Plus sports drama miniseries arrives on Tuesday, June 4

A new miniseries adapting a real-life turn of events from 10 years ago is Clipped, an FX show which debuts this week.

The show dramatizes the power struggle between the owner and coach of the LA Clippers when, in 2013, racist comments from the former and an ongoing affair throw the future of the club into jeopardy. With an all-star cast, this miniseries could be a must-watch for sports fans and drama fans alike.

The first two episodes of Clipped hit Hulu in the US and Disney Plus elsewhere on Tuesday, June 4, and new episodes arrive weekly until the beginning of July.
