anyone seen where you cannot open the calculator on windows 10? I even downloaded the HD version with same issues from the app store with same results. Tried resetting the app with same results. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with powershell

Have you tried creating a new user account on that device and seeing if the same issue persists?

Have you tried resetting the calculator?

Step 1: Open Settings. Navigate to System > Apps & features. If you are on Windows 10 Creators Update (build 14997 or later), you need to navigate to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.

Step 2: Look for the Calculator app entry. Select the Calculator app by clicking or tapping on it. You should now see the Advanced options link. Click Advanced options link to open Storage usage and app reset page.

Step 3: Here, click the Reset button. And when you see the confirmation dialog, click the Reset button again to reset the Calculator app.

I ran into this problem before and had tried all the repair, reset, re-install like you did but it couldn’t fix it…

I also tried the powershell script and it messed up other apps…

For my case, i updated the computer to the latest windows 10 1809 and that fixed the calculator issue.

Currently, i have the same issue with the Photos app on another windows 10 computer . Unfortunately, the latest windows updates still doesn’t fix the issue.

Try this command: sfc /scannow
and then reboot.

Also, Run CCleaner and cleanup windows and fix registry keys.

I have had to actually go to the Msft Store before and reinstall the application before to correct it!

I am on 1809 already. Same issue happens when opening jpg files. I have not done sfc scan yet. Here is the log:

Using the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, run the Windows installer for the same version you are using currently. Run it from inside Windows, don’t boot to it and run an install. This is called an in place upgrade. This should fix anything wrong with Windows. It is sometimes your best bet. Always backup before attempting this.

repair tool did not work. I even tried creating a new profile and it did not work. Login as admin and it works. Looks like I may have to reload this machine which is annoying. Seeing same issue when opening jpegs

I finally solved this. Made the user a part of local admin. Logged in as user and opened apps. They opened without error. Removed from admin and now fixed. Makes no sense but now works!
