I've learned more about Jim Brown in the week that I read this book than a lifetime of watching highlights. Watching what this man did for the game. How he was a multi sport athlete for Syracuse University, how he changed the game in the NFL and even when he retired in his prime to become a movie star. It shows he lived a valiant life.
Being a famous athlete affords you certain privileges that most people of color would never experience. Jim speaks of these privileges and how it's led him to this path of consciousness, but like everything, time changes.. Jim Brown was certainly a pioneer in the moves he made as a NFL'er but some of his decision making of today I question. But you know, we all are entitled to believe and support what we value. I think Jim's values are different now vs yesteryear.
This book was a pretty good read.. On tv you learn the myth, in this book you learn the man.
