If you have even an hour, it's worth visiting! It's a small regional art museum with a building designed by Alvar Aalto, who currently has some of his work exhibited in one of the galleries, including furniture and drawings, photographs, and a video of his life's work. Be sure to walk in the outdoor sculpture garden if you have time and good weather. Ideal location to learn more about the viking history and lhow people lived in that time period.

The indoor museum did not interest me so much where it houses 160 ships models.
We found outdoor a lot more interesting with the submarine Springeren and the torpedo ship Søbjørn where one can walk from one end to the other. Kids loved the playground where they drove round and round in the mooncars.

You go down in a lift below street level, where the remains of a monastery are preserved behind display cases.
