- Savage1978Pershore, UK67 contributionsWhat an amazing place! The weather wasn’t great but you’re given umbrellas if it’s wet and it didn’t spoil the experience at all.
The array of plants and trees were spectacular and it’s clear this so much time and experience has gone into making this so special. Robin our guide was very knowledgable and told us all about the place.
Absolutely must visit this place, rain or shine!Written May 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lysefjord was formed about 400 million years ago due to a tectonic fault caused by the movement of plates of the earth's crust. During the ice Age, this crack was filled with ice, which moved towards the sea, pushing its weight through a deep V-shaped fjord. The popularity of Lysefjord is due to accessibility and entertainment. Accessibility is ensured by proximity to Stavanger, which is only 25 km away in a straight line. The fjord can be viewed from above from the Prekestolen (Pulpit) or from the water. And these will be different fjords! In terms of time, the least expensive way is the Prekestolen. I chose him. The famous "Pulpit" is located almost at the neck of the fjord. Most tourists choose this option. Lifting does not require much physical effort and is accessible to both teenagers and the elderly. To see Lysefjord from the other side, you need to drive to the tiny village of Lysebotn by bus from Columbus. From Stavanger in one direction it will take 3 hours and 20 minutes. There is a more spectacular option with a ferry. Lysebotn is the starting point to the second famous landmark of the fjord- Kjerag- a huge boulder stuck between two rocks. Getting to it is immeasurably more difficult. From Lysebotn only to the starting point for trekking to Kjerag it is necessary to walk 8 km. Since I arrived in Stavanger in the morning and had only a day, I immediately ruled out visiting the famous stone. But if you have more time, why not?Written February 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TonyLeyland, UK350 contributionsThis is a Disney version of Norway 🇳🇴 which is actually in Norway, so this is nothing like Disney. If you visit, remember real Norwegians live here, so don't disturb them.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stuart TReading, UK47 contributionsWe called in to escape some poor weather on a cruise trip, but it was well worth the stop and we spent a good few hours there. We got in as it opened so got some good photos of the exhibits too. It runs through the exploration and incidents in the north sea. There's a small outside section too where you can try an escape chuteWritten June 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ianjmc85Liverpool, UK445 contributionsWe were in Stavanger for the day on a cruise. Main thing we wanted to see was The Swords in the Rock. Caught the HOHO bus tour got off here, a little bit of drizzle, but a very impressive site, if you're lucky enough to be there on your own, then it's quite atmospheric until the crowds arrive.Written May 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RamboNWAlbertaSpruce Grove, Canada652 contributionsWe took an hour to check out this museum. Nice displays in different levels of old waterfront building.
Was interesting to see past shipping and ferry information, restored rooms from old ship, etc.
Don’t need lots of time to see this museum but we thought it was worth it..Written June 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The exhibition has many interesting and valuable items from the Iron Age, Stone Age and the Viking Age. If you go below the ground floor, you can find a real time machine and a place where children can experiment on being real archeologists. We spent about two hours at this museum and the kids loved it a lot.
