- emilyjune92Arlington, VA22 contributionsSo beautiful! A little expensive but very worth the trip. Locals also mentioned to me that its worth the visit, so I splurged. Not many solo people, it would be better I think as a couple or with friends. But still lovely and I'm glad I went! Food was pretty good, and the wine package I thought was a fair deal (it's an upgrade). The ferry is heated and covered, so it's a comfy trip over (about 20 minutes).Written September 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VadimMurmansk, Russia33,727 contributionsLysefjord is one of the most popular fjords in Norway. Lysefjord was formed about 400 million years ago due to a tectonic fault caused by the movement of plates of the earth's crust. During the ice Age, this crack was filled with ice, which moved towards the sea, pushing its weight through a deep V-shaped fjord. The popularity of Lysefjord is due to accessibility and entertainment. Accessibility is ensured by proximity to Stavanger, which is only 25 km away in a straight line. The fjord can be viewed from above from the Prekestolen (Pulpit) or from the water. And these will be different fjords! In terms of time, the least expensive way is the Prekestolen. I chose him. The famous "Pulpit" is located almost at the neck of the fjord. Most tourists choose this option. Lifting does not require much physical effort and is accessible to both teenagers and the elderly. To see Lysefjord from the other side, you need to drive to the tiny village of Lysebotn by bus from Columbus. From Stavanger in one direction it will take 3 hours and 20 minutes. There is a more spectacular option with a ferry. Lysebotn is the starting point to the second famous landmark of the fjord- Kjerag- a huge boulder stuck between two rocks. Getting to it is immeasurably more difficult. From Lysebotn only to the starting point for trekking to Kjerag it is necessary to walk 8 km. Since I arrived in Stavanger in the morning and had only a day, I immediately ruled out visiting the famous stone. But if you have more time, why not?Written February 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TonyLeyland, UK344 contributionsThis is a Disney version of Norway 🇳🇴 which is actually in Norway, so this is nothing like Disney. If you visit, remember real Norwegians live here, so don't disturb them.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CalPittsburgh, PA45 contributionsWell done and comprehensive. The Oil Kid movie was my favorite as it really hit 🎯 home.
It's fantastic what the Norwegians have done on their own ingenuity and bravery. Truly world class engineering.
Needs updates as the industry's technology has progressed fast.
I would appreciate them recognizing the US oil firms more prominently since Houston is a Sister City. I also would have expected them not to be so sure in their messaging that humans are creating climate change.
Well worth it and recommend it.Written May 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Good connections from Stavanger by bus but a bit of walking is necessary. The Swords are impressive and the historical significance clearly explained. Probably looks even better when the weather is good and you can see more!Written May 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elsa C. L.New York City, NY4,618 contributionsThis is a street lined with bar restaurants where people hang out to relax, socialize, drink and have a bite. The scenery is more attractive in the evening when the colorful lights are glowing.Written October 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RamboNWAlbertaSpruce Grove, Canada651 contributionsWe took an hour to check out this museum. Nice displays in different levels of old waterfront building.
Was interesting to see past shipping and ferry information, restored rooms from old ship, etc.
Don’t need lots of time to see this museum but we thought it was worth it..Written June 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The exhibition has many interesting and valuable items from the Iron Age, Stone Age and the Viking Age. If you go below the ground floor, you can find a real time machine and a place where children can experiment on being real archeologists. We spent about two hours at this museum and the kids loved it a lot.
