Kelly Clarkson went through a very public divorce from former manager Brandon Blackstock back in 2020—but since it's been a few years, you might be wondering: Is she dating anyone new yet?
Well, Kelly’s latest album, Chemistry, is about her breakup, and she just People that writing the songs helped her to move on. “I didn’t see it other than: This is my outlet. I’m a let-go person; I don’t hold grudges. So it was really delving into what happened in my life and why—and what am I going to do about it?” she said.
The 41-year-old called her album a “healthy outlet” for her feelings around her divorce. “The level of depression and things that come with divorce or grieving is extraordinarily hard,” she said. “You feel alone, and it’s just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming.”
Kelly said that writing her album felt like she was “taking my power back,” adding that she also went to therapy.
So…is Kelly dating? She says no. “I was single until I was, like 30, and I forgot how really good at that I am,” Kelly told Today.
That echoes something she said back in September in an Instagram Live. "Do I have a boyfriend? No! And not looking. You know why? I love being single," she said. "I have two kids, two dogs, three rabbits, a hamster, multiple jobs—there's a lot going on. And, you know, you think you're going to spend the rest of your life with somebody, and you don't. That's hard to start over."
Kelly seems really happy with where she's at right now. “Sometimes you don’t know what life has in store for you, and you think your life is going to go one way, and it’s OK that it doesn’t," she told People. "You never know how beautiful that might be.”
