We went here for dinner last night on 1/19. We were a little concerned when we got there because the place was virtually empty. Our fears however were amply allayed by the pleasant server who promptly sat us and took good care of us. My...companion had the burger and I had Trofie pasta for our entrees. Both were very well done. Before hand we had a Chopped Salad, Caesar Salad, and grilled Calamari appetizer. The greens were fresh and the dressings were full of flavor. The calamari was outstanding! Overall we loved it. It was our second time there.More

Let’s face it, these are strange times. And no matter how much we want things to be back to normal, they aren’t. So, please when reviewing hospitality businesses, take into account the difficulties these small entrepreneurs are facing. Staffing issues, inventory maintenance etc. which will...perhaps cause service delays, item shortages etc. Part of your enjoyment in eating out anywhere should take these factors into consideration. This was our last dinner in Kingston for an extended weekend. Imagine our delight in finding such a good restaurant, obviously understaffed but doing their best to provide a lovely evening out for people. Our waiter/host/bartender/runner Oscar made the experience warm inviting and welcoming. So kudos Oscar! We loved you and wish you the absolute best. Onto the food and drink. Cocktails were excellent, good pours and well balanced. Try one of their concoctions, we Thoroughly enjoyed the Palizzata Negroni, their Aperol Spritz and the Kali-Flower made with gin, elderflower, tonic and citrus. To start, we had some butternut squash soup and a trio of brightly favored greens for sharing as well as an order of their homemade pretzels. The greens were my favorites, the roasted Brussels sprouts with garlic and rosemary and blistered shishitos were excellent. Don’t over order apps and small sides, because the entree portions are substantial. We adored the bolognese served with a wide flat pappardelle noodle. Second favorite was the spicy but not overpowering orrechiette. This had a crumbled sausage and broccoli rabe sauce with just the right amount of heat from chili flakes. Desserts were delicious, but if available I’d opt for the chocolate hazelnut budino. It’s rich and can easily be shared by two people, three if you just want a taste. Plus we took away some great products from their market area as souvenirs, if you’ve never used Mutti cherry tomatoes to make a marinara sauce, this is the time and place to pick up a few cans. All in all, a perfectly delightful end to our time in Kingston.More

Friends and I went last night. The ambiance was lovely. We could actually talk and hear each other, a rarity these days. The food was well prepared with portions of the right size. We shared appetizers, the eggplant parmigiana was a standout. For main dishes...two of us had excellent swordfish and two had al dente pappardelle with seafood ( and that’s not just specks of seafood but a full serving). Desert was ricotta cheesecake- not an easy thing to find. All in all, please support this excellent new addition to Kingston.More

Tried Palizzata cause its always fun to try a new place in our small town of Kingston. Nice decor and service was outstanding. Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. If you do try i would ask for her, i believe here name was...nayomi. Food was good. Calamari app was very tasty and the ribeye was cooked well and tender. Owner is very personable and do anything possible to make your meal perfect. Only reason why i cant rate higher or return there is the prices. Like i said food is good but not comparable to other local fine dining like Boistons around the corner or Ship to Shore downtown. If im going to pay those prices i prefer others.More

This restaurant was open late on a weekend night. Most places were closed by the time I arrived in the historic Stockade district but they have a moderate priced menu and a interesting drink menu selection. Food is good and you have the option of...having a smaller size plate or a larger size plate of pasta. They recently opened last week and still have a few kinks to work out but overall I highly recommend the restaurant and it is a welcome addition to the Stockade district. Get the hibiscus ginger cider or anything on the drink menu.More

Staying in Kingston in celebration of our wedding anniversary with a desire for a relaxing time enjoying the delicious bounty of fresh food prepared by, in my opinion, some of the best chefs in the north eastern United States. We checked the reviews and off...we went with great anticipation of a great meal. It was a bustling Saturday evening so making a reservation proved essential. Service was friendly but so slow. This must have been an off night because our entrées did not come close to the exceptional great reviews we read. Starting with chick pee cakes was a pleasant way to begin our meal. Tasty crispy deep fried strips accompanied by creamy garlicky sauce enhanced the delicate flavor of this appetizer. Warm Italian bread with rich olive oil for dipping was a nice addition. Their butternut squash soup was bland. So bland I added salt and pepper; I NEVER put these on my food in a restaurant. The salt and pepper shakers on the table reminded me of what is provided in a neighborhood diner. Maybe freshly ground pepper and a high grade salt could have enhanced this dish? Inventive vegan and vegetarian meals were offered on their extensive menu as well as wine , beer and cocktails. Northern Italian dishes with fish and meats were on a separate menu. I had the Vegan lasagna that had vegetables in it that I love but found it to be lack luster, not bland, having a hint of heat. Rubbery noodles stuck to the bottom and sides of the ceramic dish it was cooked in. I ate half enjoying the cashew béchamel sauce. When asked by our server how everything was, I politely told her the truth. No response was offered. Had she never received a negative response to her inquiry, therefor being unprepared to respond? This and prior reviews led me to the conclusion that our dining experience may not be typical. Understaffing post pandemic may have stressed the staff affecting the product. I look forward to reading future reviews and returning to enjoy the fabulous meals described by my fellow TripAdvisor reviewers.More

Chicken and mushroom marsala with roasted potatoes, and sautéed spinach were divine, as was the Eggplant Parmigiano and sautéed broccoli. Portions were more than sufficient, served with 3 types of bread and evoo. Pick up and delivery only at this time. Can't wait for the...pandemic to be over so we can enjoy dine in. They also have a little Italian marketplace with fresh pasta, meats, and other Italian delicacies. Please don't miss this gem in Uptown Kingston...you will be sorry if you do!More

This is the best Italian restaurant in the area! Fresh pasta. Great atmosphere. Several pasta dishes offer half portions for those who can’t finish a whole plate or wish to get dessert. There is also often a small appetizer given that is compliments of the...chef. Love this restaurant!More

The waitresses are very attentive, professional, and upbeat. The prices are very fair. The food here is AMAZING! From the appetizers to the arugula salad to the entrees it was ALL absolutely delicious! Extremely tasty and perfectly cooked and seasoned. We had salmon mac &...cheese, a sizable ribeye steak with seasoned asparagus, potatoes, and caramelized onions . It was all done to perfection! Our first time at this new restaurant for an early dinner, drawn in by "Northern Italian" cuisine. To start out, even while sitting near a speaker, the music was low enough that it didn't impede conversation, which was great, as loud music, noisy venues and...poor acoustics can actually be a deal breaker for us as far as dining goes. My appetizer was a delicious fig crostini, followed by us both ordering the Shrimp Scampi, which was plentiful with shrimp and served over fresh pasta. While scampi is not an especially adventurous choice, this was a different experience as the flavors were light and delicate, not overbearing, so each ingredient could be savored - not the usual drowned in butter/oil and blasted in garlic scampi. There is an option for a half-size plate, which suited us perfectly, as one of us has a larger appetite than the other. As a matter of fact, that option is a definite incentive. We look forward to returning and trying out other choices on the menu, and hope to see more classically Northern options.More

So new that it still smells like fresh paint. We were one of 3 table to start off the evening but it did get busier as the evening progressed. Our server was attentive and helpful. She was able to make recommendations and was knowledgeable about...the menu. Not the kind of Italian restaurant with huge plates dripping with mozzarella cheese. More like northern Italian cuisine - full of flavor and fresh ingredients, with some classic menu items too. We started with a glass of wine - a house Malbec and a specialty mixed drink. The wine was better than the drink. Bread at the table was good. We ordered the octopus appetizer with fennel, and it was tender and light, very well balanced. Next was a tasty Caesar salad that was not over dressed. My husband tried the chicken with spinach for his dinner and it was delicious - I would order it again in a heart beat. I ordered a homemade pasta dish that was good, but not amazing like the chicken. The fresh ribbons of pasta were broken in lots of smaller pieces , and it was under seasoned. I added salt and pepper - and the fresh parmigiana cheese offered - but it needed more garlic and fresh herbs too. I’d go back again - I think as they gain experience they will continue to improve too. I’d love to see them grow into excellence - they have a fine start.More

While visiting the Kingston/Woodstock area we set out to find a good dinner and this discovery suited our every want and need. The look of the restaurant is appealing. A clean, stark and chic look. Tables were well spaced and the noise level was low,...a pleasant surprise. Our wait server, Gabby was bubbly, well trained and knew her stuff. The bar is full service with a good mixologist, and the wine list contained some very reasonably priced Italian gems. We chose a 2011 Castelgreve Chianti Classico Reserva priced at $40. It was worth every penny, and enjoyed to the last drop. We started with a trio of crustini, followed by the grilled octopus, buratta and arrugala with roasted tomatoes, and also shared an order of grilled calamari, with the buratta and grilled calamari being our winning choices. Our entrees were grilled salmon, vegetable lasagna and the Pekin Duck breast over escarole. All were good, however, the duck was over done but flavorful with the salmon being the top vote "getter". We had to sample 2 desserts, so we tried the warm almond choc cake and the tiramisu. Both were excellent...... This upscale, chic yet casual restaurant was a welcome surprise after spending the day in Woodstock and we wish you best of luck and success. When in the area, we will be back!More

Six of us went for a family birthday dinner last night at Palizzata. The restaurant is spacious with high ceilings and plenty of room between tables. It’s beautifully decorated with abstract art and the service was friendly and professional without being snooty. And the meals...were excellent. From the oysters to the salads to the brisket, steak, branzino, lasagna, pasta and chicken. Everything was fresh and flavorful cooked just right. Nice mixed drinks and wine selection. We will come here whenever we’re in town. Also try the chocolate cake, gelato and tiramisu. Great value. We’re staying in Rhinebeck, it was well worth the trip.More

When it comes to Italian food, I am not a big lunch eater. However, if a restaurant offers a smaller portion of a pasta dish at lunch then I will check it out. The bolognese was just the right ratio of pasta, meat, seasonings. I...enjoyed it and it was not overwhelming. We had to order salad separately and it seemed to have homemade dressing on it. The bread service was dry. Our waiter service was excellent.More

We’ve visited Palizzata twice and both times the food has been stellar. The second visit was during the Friday happy hour and we were delighted to find four generous trays of snacks that included figs with blue cheese and balsamic vinegar, grilled eggplant and squash,...a mixed vegetable salad, and prosciutto and parmesan. We enjoyed it all with a superb and reasonably-priced bottle of garganega. It bears mentioning that there is an entire vegan menu available as well. Standout entrees were grilled eggplant with polenta, vegan lasagna, and a chef’s special fettuccine with oil, garlic, and pea shoots. The latter’s perfection lied in its simplicity; a perfect dish for a summer night. Service was attentive and friendly and the warm welcome and conversation with the owner made the experience very personal. We’ll be returning often to one of our new favorite restaurants.More
