This list of Black heist movies includes films that feature at least one African American lead character. The greatest heist movies all consist of the perfect plan, the priceless prize, and an assembly of thieves each with their own specialty. Some of these Black heist movies feature a good old fashioned bank robbery, while others aim to steal rare jewels.

Before there was Ocean’s 8, there was the 1996 box office hit Set It Off starring Jada Pinkett, Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox, and Kimberly Elise. It was not just a movie featuring a group of female bank robbers, it also starred a few of the biggest Black actresses of the era. The film additionally proved that well-made, female-led movies could rule at the box office.
