First Look Images: Magpie Murders

[September 22, 2021] If you loved Anthony Horowitz’s acclaimed novel, then get ready for the Magpie Murders TV series coming to MASTERPIECE on PBS! Magpie Murders recently wrapped production in London, Suffolk and Ireland, and now we have new images from the set.

Anthony Horowitz’ bestselling novel centers on book editor Susan Ryeland, played by Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread, World on Fire), who is given an unfinished manuscript by best-selling mystery writer Alan Conway (Conleth Hill, Game of Thrones) featuring Conway’s longtime main character, detective Atticus Pünd (Timothy McMullan, Patrick Melrose). When she attempts to attain the final chapters from Conway, she finds herself in the middle of a shocking mystery case of her own that will change her life in ways she never expected.

“Fans of Anthony Horowitz’s highly acclaimed, thrilling novel will be utterly delighted…” Manville told Variety. “I could not be happier to be playing Susan Ryeland. What a fabulous character for me to grapple with.”

The series also includes stars such as Daniel Mays (Line of Duty, Des), Alexandros Logothetis (The Island), Claire Rushbrook (Whitechapel, My Mad Fat Diary), Matthew Beard (Dracula, And When Did You Last See Your Father?), Pippa Haywood (Bodyguard, Bridgerton) and Michael Maloney (The Crown, The Trial Of Christine Keeler).

The series is directed by Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty, Military Wives, The A Word).
