From Kikuchi gorge, we arrived at Yufuin on a Friday afternoon. Stayed for 2n before an o/n in Beppu.

Overall itin – Takeo onsen > Karatsu > Yamaga onsen-go > Yufuin (2n) > Beppu > Matsuyama (2n) > Fukuoka (3n)
I loved your photos DLi_HK, thank you. The 150yo sakura tree was just stunning!! The dessert at the Yufuin coffeehouse looked so delicious.
I will get different scenery in that area in December, but I enjoyed catching a glimpse of it now.

Though that sakura tree dwarfs compared to some in Honshu in terms of age and size, it's nonetheless beautiful in peak blossom, serene w/o crowds and closest to cities.
The desserts, coffee, ambience in that local coffee house is second to none in Kyushu. will surely drop by next time in Yufuin.
