Over the last two years, Kelly Osbourne has undergone a complete transformation physically and mentally, and she’s finally ready to talk about it. On the August 20 episode of Dax Holt and Adam Glyn’s Hollywood Raw podcast, the TV personality shared for the first time about having gastric sleeve surgery, which helped her lose 85 pounds.

“I had surgery; I don’t give a f*ck what anyone has to say,” she told the hosts, addressing rumors about her weight loss. “I did it, I’m proud of it, they can suck sh*t. I did the gastric sleeve. All it does is change the shape of your stomach. I got that almost two years ago. I will never ever ever lie about it ever. It is the best thing I have ever done.”

She emphasized that it still wasn’t a quick fix. “The kind of surgery I had…if you don’t work out and you don’t eat right, you gain weight. All it does is move you in the right direction,” she said. She also prepared her mind for the huge milestone by completing a year of “standalone therapy” before going under the knife.

“The number one thing I had to do was get happy. I had to fix my head before I could fix my body,” she said. “You can never go into this if you’re not in a good mindset.” In addition to therapy, she also decided to stop drinking, and has now been sober for two and a half years.

“What people don’t realize is, [the surgery] cuts out this hormone that if you have addiction issues, it stops your craving and it makes you not emotionally eat, which is a huge problem for me,” she added. “All it is, is a push in the right direction. It doesn’t solve all your problems.”

It’s been a journey for Osbourne, as she was kind of at a breaking point before committing to the operation. “This has been two years of me working on this, figuring out if I wanted to be in this [Hollywood] industry, figuring out if I was even capable of even losing this weight,” she explained. “I did, and I figured out I wanted to keep going. I didn’t do this for anyone. It was a long process, and now I’m here and everybody is noticing.”

She actually first addressed the weight loss in the comments of an Instagram photo—a car selfie, to be exact. “Oh my gosh, you lost a lot of weight😘,” Mama Mai commented. “That’s right mamma,” Osbourne replied. “I lost 85lbs since I last saw you. Can you believe it?”

At the beginning of 2020, she wrote a post calling it the “year of me.” “It’s time to put myself first, stop taking on other peoples sh*t and be the badass sober women I was born to be,” she wrote. And despite how troubling 2020 has been for the world at large, she still made it happen.
