It’s so nice to meet Alicia and Rory in the bar, and the hotel is very nice ! Highly recommended! And I had a very comfortable experience, if you come to this hotel, remember to have a cup of beer in the bar, you won’t regret it :)

Excellent hotel and amazing staff! Jerry Ramirez was fantastic and accommodating with all requests and Rory and Alecia at the bar made the most delicious concoctions! I would highly recommend a stay at the Chancellor!

Great location, clean room and we definitely enjoyed the complimentary cookies. The thing that makes this such a good place to stay are the staff. Especially Glen, she was very helpful and sweet. She helped us checked in early and gave a room with a nice view.

We are very satisfied with our 3-day stay in Chansellor Hotel. I want to acknowledge the front desk attendant, Glen, who provided us very efficient and helpful service during our stay. Very professional.

The hotel is very well located, perfectly clean and the staff is amazing (we had some problems on our first night- the room close to ours hosted a couple with a very young baby that cried quite a lot in the night- and the staff changed our room and gave us a wonderful suite for free).
I will definitely come back again when in San Francisco.

The location in terms of access to nearby touristy spots is excellent. It’s a very old property with a great upkeep. Staff is cooperative and responsive. Cleanliness is on spot. The bed we had was extremely uncomfortable. It was sunken in the middle.
Parking is a pain around the property. Street crimes are extremely high. Even garage parkings aren’t safe. We got the windscreen cracked overnight. The neighborhood has a very high number of homeless folks. These are somethings to keep in mind while being in this location.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, the location was great, and I would recommend this hotel. Walking distance to most attractions and about a 30 minute walk to Pier 39. Friendly staff. Room was small but comfortable for two people. We knew there was no AC in the rooms at the time of booking but decided to try it out anyway. We had to keep window open often, as it did get too hot at times, especially after someone showers, but the fan they provided was helpful. I learned this hotel was haunted after I booked, but we never encountered any paranormal activity during our stay.

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is in the perfect location in Union Square. Walking distance to most attractions. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is older but very clean and comfortable. The beds and linens were nice and the pillow menu was a nice touch. The bathroom was clean but small, they do let you know to expect that so it wasn’t a big deal. There was a walk-in closet which was unusual for a hotel room but a nice space to store our bags and hang some clothing. It was quiet and I was able to sleep like a log. I would recommend staying here.

This is an older hotel, that is in need of some work. We stayed in a suite on the top floor. The room was large enough, although we would have preferred a king sized bed. The suite had two bathrooms, with different showers (shower in bath combos). One was better than the other. The furniture, carpets and fittings are all in need of an update as they have aged.
The front desk and bell service was good, and the buffet breakfast, while small, was fine.
Happy hour at the small hotel bar was also a nice spot in the afternoon with the sports on and full bar available. Bar staff were fantastic.
The location can't be faulted, right next to union square and on the cable car stop which can be taken down to Fisherman's wharf.
Although it does have it's "quirks", I wouldn't have a problem with staying here again as it was good value for money compared to other hotels in the area.
I do need to know however - why a bottle opener was installed next to the toilet roll holder in the bathroom ?

It depends on the size and the number of your order(s) and how often you plan to receive them and how long you will be staying at Chancellor. In my experience, most accommodating hotels do not charge for 1 or 2 small orders received. It is best to contact Chancellor Hotel reception (very nice staff) and ask them directly.
It was easy to communicate with them via email.
Definitely the BART, so easy & a short walk from Powell st station. Follow the cable car tracks by turntable & keep going straight up, past Union Square & you can’t miss the hotel.
