Who else has no enemies?
Just thinking about who in other media has a similar viewpoint to Thors. So far I’ve got:
Uncle Iroh (ATLA)

Yeah you say that…until this motherfucker shows up.
Based.
As a devout Christian, well played and well stated. Also, based.
I don't believe in a god, but I very much like Jesus and consider him a role model
He definitely has enemies but another character with a really good redemption arc is Arthur Morgan
Well the level of his redemption arc depends on how u play the game but yes
King uri reiss in attack on titan
And Kenny, like Askelladd is convinced everyone is a slave to something
Askeladd and Kenny are both so similar. The truth is, Kenny is so well-written that I believe if he got more screentime, he could have even been praised as a small-scale version of Askeladd.
It's perhaps easier to find books that cover this sort of subject matter than it is anime or even regular tv shows. At most an aversion to killing in anime is usually part of a good guy trait package rather than being the result of having been confronted with the horrors of war.
A book I personally really enjoy is "The Lions of Al-Rassan" by Guy Gavriel Kay. The short of it is that the novel takes place in a low-fantasy world very similar to our own real world representing a medieval era with 3 main religions each analogous to real world religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam). It's basically historic fiction for all intents and purposes despite taking place in a fictional setting. One of our leads a female "jewish" doctor by the name of Jehane finds herself entwined in the affairs of a "Muslim" poet and a "Christian" army commander.
While not strictly about pacifism the book is very much about the interplay between various characters of different backgrounds and the dangers of racism, religious zeal, prejudice and war and slavery. I'd say there is certainly some overlap between the themes and philosophy of Vinland Saga and what's presented here.
"Who are my enemies?" - Jehane bet Ishak
Also while it's definitely more of a classic fantasy adventure affair one of the leading characters in "The Riyria Revelations" named Hadrian has a back story that's functionally identical to Thorfinn's and has a strong aversion to killing and violence despite his extreme proficiency at it. The core premise is that Hadrian is part of a thieving duo with his partner Royce who is his polar opposite, cynical and cold-hearted and the two often clash due to their extremely opposing world views.
Ted Lasso
That's a good one
Eren Yeager. No enemies, such a lovely chap. Just watched the first episode so I’m confident all will be fine
You're going to love it. Such a nice and relaxing anime. And a super heartwarming ending.
You can't have enemies if all your enemies are dead (c) - Eren Yeager

Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun
Vash is the fucking goat
Hell yeah
Not really? Kenshin aknowledges he has enemies and fights against them, but he doesn't kill them. In fact, Kenshin is more mature than Thorfinn. When Kenshin talks about Kaoru's view on swords ("the sword that gives life"), he says verbatim "A sword is a weapon. Whatever pretty names you give to it, swordsmanship is a way to kill. She speaks as one who has never bloodied her hands. Kaoru maintains a sweet naïve lie. But in the face of such awful truth, the naïve lie she tells is so much better." Thorfinn, on the other hand, keeps the mindset of "Nooooooooo I will create a world without war and slavery, it's not me who is wrong, it's the world!!!!"
Kenshin knows he has enemies (Shishio and Enishi the greatest example of this), but he makes the active choice of not killing them but he does fight to protect his loved ones; which is more than Thorfinn ever does.
I don't really Vash that well, so I can't really comment on him.
Look, we've had this discussion before, and i don't want to repeat myself
Thorfinn is WILLING and he HAS protected his loved ones and friends.
He will protect people, he will use violence but as the last resort.
Just re-read the Slave Arc, and the Baltic Sea Arc, and even a few chapters ago he used violence to protect his friends.
I'm up to date with the manga, and my point still remains. Maybe try harder?
Nah, i really won't since i know how all of this will end
You are set in your ways, and no matter what anyone does to try and change your opinion, or for you to at least acknowledge what the manga has presented, you will not budge at all
Perhaps this is not the most direct comparison, but All Quiet on the Western Front (Im Westen nichts Neues) focuses heavily on the horrors of war. The change in perspective that the main character has throughout the film reminds me of Thorfinn and some of the overall themes in the show.
No enemies until
"Knock it off with the staring"
"I'll sue you!"
Miyamoto Musashi from Vagabond
Todd McGowan
shigeo kageyama from mob psycho 100!! I have just started watching it and thought of this
Tenma kinda, he does tries to hunt down Johan, but his nature goes against that.
J. Cole
Guts from berserk def
Isn’t he on a quest for revenge though?
During the Black Swordman Arc? Yeah he was. After that point? No. He just wanted to heal Casca’s mind. Guts and his party eventually achieved that goal too and he even had a moment where he thought “what now?” He was free from seeking revenge for a while.
Spider-Man
Sadly as a Spider-Man fan, this is not true. His enemies are the comic book writers 😭
Well...as long as he doesn't break the 4th wall he will possess blissfully ignorance💀

Bro has enemies
Other people also hate each other for their ideals🤷🏻♂️
Um.. I don't have any enemies. Like zero. Every relationship in my life is a positive one. Bummer that that isn't the case for everybody.
Fools, mostly. Edit: All downvotes, no arguments. Just as expected.
Fuck u mean "just as expected"? you ain't a cool anime character, kiddo. You're probably an edgy teenager
This is also as expected
Okay, buddy. Ome day you'll grow up and understand the true strength of having no enemies
A coward believes he will ever live
if he keep him safe from strife:
but old age leaves him not long in peace
though spears may spare his life.
Hávamál, verse 16
I counsel thee, Stray-Singer, accept my counsels,
they will be thy boon if thou obey'st them,
they will work thy weal if thou win'st them:
when in peril thou seest thee, confess thee in peril,
nor ever give peace to thy foes.
Hávamál, verse 126
why do u have enemies
Because there are people that want or will want to hurt me and my loved ones (i.e thieves, robbers, murderes, etc). And I will consider them my enemies. Also, it's natural to have enemies, one of the many manifestations of human nature.
A social order works inherently against "human nature"(Laws). Notice you render these "murderers and thieves" as criminals outside of that social order that you can safely say are your enemies.
Human nature is already removed from your first operation. It has more to do with a system of those that belong and those that don't. I'm not saying that you have to kumbaya with murderers (Those that don't belong), certainly they have to be fought against and defeated.
And thorfinn certainly fights and defeats people like garm, but doesn't render them enemies. He understands them and communes with them, however imperfectly.
You have to change your relationship to those that oppose you in order to have meaningful progress.
I don't have any enemies. Why would I? All the relationships in my life are positive ones. I'm on good terms with all of my past partners, because we have always ended things by talking through what went wrong until we understood each other, like grown ups should.
And I don't consider "evil" people to be my enemies either, because I don't believe there are "evil" people. Just people whose brain chemistry or past experiences have led them down bad roads. Those people need help and compassion, not hatred. Of course, some people are beyond help and should be locked up, but once they're no longer a threat to anyone, treating them as an enemy isn't going to solve anything.
Having no enemies is absolutely 100% an ideal people should work towards.
