It's not a terrible school to go to whatsoever, however, the administration is a little bad and some kids think they are gang-related when they are not related to any gang at all. I think that this school wouldn't be bad in terms of being lowkey, but some of the academics and resources that we get in the school are very limited and there isn't so much that you're able to do. The teachers don't exactly get you college-ready, they get you able to pass their class and that's all they care about, this doesn't apply to all teachers, but this applies to most of them. I think that it could become better through some effort from the staff and administration, but otherwise, the school is a wreck and is known for big issues, but the sports aren't terrible. The coaches have questionable tastes in how to train their players, they have high expectations so that the players would try to reach them, but it unfortunately isn't how the players will be able to move to the next level.
As a Senior at Sanderson High School I have had many different experiences throughout my high school career, both good and bad. For starters, I have never had a bad teacher. Every teacher, throughout all four years, has done an excellent job of making accommodations for their students and ensuring that we truly understand what they are trying to teach. As far as the students are concerned, I have made some of my best friends at Sanderson. However, there are definitely still cliques, but high school will always be full of different groups. While I have never eaten the cafeteria food, I do know that not many students love it. I am apart of senior student council and I definitely do not always feel the school spirit, I think that’s something we as students and staff could work on. Overall my high school career at Sanderson was enjoyable and I’m thankful for the lessons and experiences I have earned.
Overall the school is about what you would get for an average public high school. It is evident, however, that the school is underfunded. There is maybe 1 good teacher in every subject area, but there are not enough teachers to teach all of the classes students may want (like AP classes), and overall it's not the best environment to be surrounded in.
