And those with fond memories of days spent playing hockey and learning French are holding a reunion in August for all students and all staff including matrons, teachers and dinner ladies.

Melanie Myers-Hall, 38, now a supply teacher, attended the school from January to July 1986 when she was 10.

She remembers the uniform, brown with a white shirt, and running cross-country on the school playing field.

She said: 'We have had other smaller reunions but we wanted to have one where we could get more of the school together.

'The staff were really great it would be nice to see some of them back there again.

'We want to invite anyone who had a connection to the school, we have even had girls in their 70s who will be attending.'

Ms Myers-Hall together with other former students, who created a group on Facebook to share photos and memories, is hosting an evening to share stories and showcase school memorabilia.

The display will include school reports and publications including speech-day programmes, carol service sheets and letters which the group hope to eventually donate to Cromer Museum.

Ms Myers-Hall said the school originated in Great Yarmouth but moved to Cromer due to the Second World War.

In Cromer, the school was housed in a number of properties over the years, including buildings owned by banking family the Barclays.

It celebrated its centenary in 1975 and in 1990 merged with Runton Hill to become Runton and Sutherland before closing permanently at the end of the summer term in 1995.

And now in a bid to bring as many people with shared memories together as possible, a three-course meal and reunion will be held in August.

It will be held at the Constantia Restaurant in East Runton and feel feature live Greek music and entertainment.

The cost will be a maximum on £28 for the evening on Friday August 22 beginning at 7pm.
