Answer
A. What is Mobile check-in?
Mobile check-in is a service that allows you to check-in for your AirAsia flights at your own convenience via the AirAsia MOVE app for a contactless, seamless and hygienic experience.
1. AirAsia encourages guests to perform mobile check-in via the AirAsia MOVE app to minimise physical contact and crowding at the airport.
2. Since 1 April 2022, AirAsia’s counter check-in service is strictly available for exempted categories of guests only at all airports in Malaysia. Among the exempted categories are:
-
senior citizens aged 70 and above,
-
people with disabilities registered with the Welfare Department,
-
young passengers travelling alone,
-
group bookings of 10 guests and more, and
-
charter flight passengers.
Passengers who do not belong to any of these categories are highly encouraged to check in via the AirAsia MOVE app prior to arriving at the airport.
3. We strongly recommend guests to download the AirAsia MOVE app for a smooth and seamless check-in experience. The app can be downloaded via the Apple App Store , Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery now.
4. Check-in using the AirAsia MOVE app to receive your e-Boarding pass. e-Boarding passes on the AirAsia MOVE app or in the form of PDFs are acceptable for boarding. Guests are not required to present physical boarding passes.
5. Multiple check-ins are allowed via the AirAsia MOVE app and e-Boarding passes can be downloaded and shared. This applies to multiple guests/passengers under the same booking number. Multiple guests check-in under the same booking number is allowed via the AirAsia MOVE app, thus guests can check-in all the guests listed under the booking number and download and share their boarding pass upon successful check-in. Each travelling guest is required to present their own e-Boarding pass (via smartphone) or a physical boarding pass.
6. e-Boarding passes are currently accepted in all airports that AirAsia operates in except airports in Japan, Vietnam, Maldives, Taiwan and Hawaii.
7. The printing of boarding passes via kiosks at the airports will soon be discontinued as AirAsia moves to a fully-electronic and contactless check-in process.
8. You will also receive a QR Code to print bag tags from our contactless kiosks at the airport (available at the majority of airports). Scan your QR Code at the kiosk to generate your luggage tag.
Here’s how you can use the self check-in tab on the AirAsia MOVE app for AirAsia flights.
1. Click on the ‘Check-In’ tab on the AirAsia MOVE app and enter your booking details to proceed.
2. Select the guest(s) to check-in and complete the following necessary steps.
3. Upon successful check-in, your e-Boarding pass will be issued.
Note: Guests with check-in baggage(s) may print their bag tag(s) from our contactless kiosks at the airport using the QR code generated during Mobile check-in.
Note: The same check-in steps apply to guests who are taking AirAsia flights with flight codes QZ, FD and Z2.
In the event of an unsuccessful verification, please head to the airport's document check counter on the day of departure, and one of our friendly Guest Services Allstars will assist you.
