The latest news about John Achterberg

Last week it came as a bit of a shock that Liverpool’s goalkeeping coach, John Achterberg, has decided to leave his position at the club after 15 years.

Achterberg has been a pivotal member of Liverpool’s first team. He’s done a brilliant job bringing through the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher.

And he’s worked with numerous Liverpool managers now, making him one of the most stable members of the Liverpool coaching department.

But he will be leaving the club, and according the Daily Mirror, Achterberg could be on the verge of joining Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

How is Steven Gerrard getting on at Al-Ettifaq?

It was a shock when Gerrard decided to move to Saudi Arabia last summer and link up as the manager of Al-Ettifaq.

He hasn’t had the easiest time in his managerial career so far. But he has taken Al-Ettifaq to a respected 8th position in the league.

Considering, Al-Ettifaq do not quite have the financial might of other big teams in the league that is a solid achievement by the former Liverpool legend.
